Let's say the refs didn't see Kucherov kicking Marner or decided it wasn't a deliberate kick, I guess that same logic could be applied to Bunting?
Given that it wasn't called a match penalty, I would say those are the two possible reasons for why it wasn't a match penalty, yes.

Definitely intentional. It looks like he thought better of it as he was doing it as it was a half hearted kick. But still a pretty clear intentional kick.

Why are you comparing an intentional kick with an accidental one?
I think Bunting's was intentional and he should be suspended a game or 2 for it, no place in the game for kicks with how dangerous blades are

But man I'm not giving kucherov the benefit of the doubt at all. He's dirty as f*** and I wouldn't be remotely surprised if that was an accidentally on purpose kick

To any of the Bruins fans on here, I'm honestly asking did the NESN broadcast happen to see Bunting kicking Frederic? If so wouldn't Jack Edwards have complained about that and want Bunting suspended for life?

Neither Chris Cuthbert or Craig Simpson mentioned it during the 3rd period and the Sportsnet panel didn't mention this after the game.

Isn't SN talking about it in the video the OP posted?

"...and heres the things that happen away from the puck that you often don't necessarily see"

It just isn't that big of a deal. In no way was that dangerous, the retaliatory slash was worse that that little nudge with the top of the boot. Snowflakes abound but we all know this has everything to do with the uniform and nothing to do with the little boot. People are so full of it here

It was dangerous. If Frederics knee buckled, the skate would have slid across the back of his calf where there's very little padding.

Intentional for sure! Not something players should ever do, that said he also did it very lightly, which to me means he wasn't trying to cut or injure him.

How when bunting legit just does his best cobra kai kick while squaring up with Frederic? Seriously dude, stop drinking the kool-aid, it's not good for your mental health.

He takes too many penalties. The last time a Leaf player won one was 2003.

Yeah, Sportsnet ignoring it was just some made up BS.

They aren’t talking about the kick, they were showing the sequence that led to matching minors.

During the next intermission they are trying to show why the Bruins were going after Bunting and why that scrum happened at the end of the period and didn’t show or mention this once. Just showed a few other unrelated clips and said that Bunting was agitating.

Didn’t mention the kick a single time.

It’s pretty dangerous to kick someone when you have a razor sharp blade on your boot which is why it’s supposed to be an automatic match penalty . And we all know this defense has everything to do with the uniform and nothing to do with the kick. You are so full of it here.

As much as you love bellyaching about the leafs, even you should be able to see the leafs get no favours. Bottom 5 in powerplay opportunities since Matthews / Marner entered the league, even as an elite puck possession team. Also the only team in the league without a 5 on 3 pp this season.

How was that stick throw tonight? Goal right after when the leafs should’ve been on the PP. the refs pull no favours for the leafs even if you want to will the narrative into existence.
