I think some people like me are saying how is it that we let players go for nothing and they are contributors on other teams. A team like Vegas when healthy is every bit as good and probably better that the Leafs. They have room for a player we let walk for nothing. Marchment could not break into our lineup yet a team that is 8-0 and better than us uses him every game and we cant find a spot for him. Brooks is a decent player with some upside in a bottom 6 role yet we have no room and let him go for bupkiss. Weird

2021-22: Brooks, Amadio
2020-21: Dell, Vesey, Boyd
2019-20: Shore, Timashov
2018-19: McElhinney, Pickard
I'm curious how 9 players lost on waivers stacks up to the rest of the league over the past 4 years.

I liked Brooks, but not one to rue. Other than McElhinney in hindsight, it's a consistent collection of players that, uh, don't matter.

a fantastic list of fringe nhlers ... which is exactly what waivers are for.
at least this finally gives way to semyonov to finally get a callup soon .

i do find it funny that we end up losing about 80% of the players we put on waivers.

other teams just like out leftovers

I feel like it's a function of our high profile media coverage. If TSN and Sportsnet didn't make these moves front page news maybe teams wouldn't even clue into what's being thrown on the waiver wire.

The Mason Marchment loss really stings for me. First of all, he was a homegrown fringe signing they spent 4 years developing. Definitely a unique asset being a 6'4" on the power side of things. And then they commit an unforced error trading him for Denis Malgin. Malgin sucks and we won't get into that, but then they didn't even spend much time working with Malgin to turn him into an asset.

So pro scouting and development basically gave up on a guy who was ready to turn a corner, for a guy they didn't have any plan to incubate further nor could he help the team. It was like a bad fantasy hockey pick up/drop. What was the point?

Toronto has also done a good job of having a few extra bodies around to tap into when the need them. The Knights last season I believe ended up playing short handed for a number of games

All I know is if Adam Brooks hits the waiver wire again we should snatch him back from Montreal.

Was kind of hoping they'd looking to Alex Barre-Boulet too when he went back and forth between Seattle and Tampa.

Woulda been nice if one of the two waiver bye-byes made it down to the Marlies.
Good luck to ya.
