Turkey can be amazing. I like to smoke mine in hickory the day before, let it rest two hours, then inject it with Frank's buffalo sauce and butter, throw in the fridge over night to marinate, then deepfry it to get it nice and crispy. My wife works for a Fire Department. She won't allow me to depfry a turkey. She knows me too well. Want to cook it quicker? Fill the thing up with more oil! KaBOOM!
I always fry my turkeys outside. I've never had one kaboom on me before, but I also don't dunk those f***ers in when they're frozen either. The deep-fry is also just to get it warm and crispy, the smoke already cooked it.
