I find it amazing that there are people that think that the Rangers' defense is "slightly" better than the Flyers. The Flyers' D is good and all, but the Rangers have one of the best in the league. Then the same poster said that the Flyers have better scoring depth, without the "slightly". We probably have better depth, they have better top end scoring. Scoring depth is not our problem.

The Flyers D has two ex-Isle players how good could it possibly be? :sarcasm:

On the main board it's quite common to see fans of teams that aren't our rival to use it in a harmless context. You probably just assume it's offensive.

Because even fans of teams who aren't our rivals, still hate the rangers organization for their spending ways and therefore "Rags" is still offensive in the nature they use it. Now in recent years with the cap, the rangers have not pissed off fans as much because they can't just outspend everyone with blank checks. They can hand out bad contracts but that doesn't mean much. However, the term "rags" has stuck and it is offensive no matter what fan is using it.

I'm not saying it's not offensive, but I see a whole lot of posts where people just throw out "Rags" like "Pens".

The random Ranger hate bewilders me. Oh no, how dare we have an owner willing to spend money to try to win. How awful. A good portion them think it's the Rangers' fault for the lockouts because of the Sakic and Holik contracts. We're the only team that's ever given out a big contract according to some of these people.

The key to winning this series is to pressure Philly's defense into coughing the puck up down low and forcing turnovers to keep the puck in their end. Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, and their other scorers can't hurt us if they don't have the puck.

We need to go out and break Philly's spirit before the series even gets to their home ice. We have the scoring depth, defense, and goaltending to put this series away early.

We take this in 5.

If this team wants to make a run, we need to get the first round wrapped up in a hurry. If this series goes past 5, I don't like our chances. Philly will win it by grinding out the last two games.

Pretty much how I feel.

Philly's defense is pathetically slow and bad at moving the puck. Brassard's line can be the X-factor here. That line can make a mess of Philly's D. This needs to be a quick series though. The Flyers are explosive, I know McD has largely silenced Giroux these past few years but he still scares the **** out of me.

I'm on the bandwagon cheering for the greatest coach in Canucks history and IMO one of the very best in the league. Im team AV for life. Go Rangers!

SOME fans choose to view it as offensive or an insult regardless of intent. Not all fans. Just as some people use the term as a pejorative, and some do not.

You can say it is offensive, period, and that may be true for you, but it is not for everyone.

One more thing, stay out of the box. The Flyers' power play is lethal.

Quoted for ****ing truth.

It's not the best in the league but the Flyers' PP is probably the scariest, they move the puck so quickly and fluently, you'd think a goal is coming any minute now. Stay the **** out of the box. Pls Rongos.

Yeah, and I especially think that the key to this series is to get all players to push themselves to play "our" game.

Its been better lately, but for a long while there we either played (i) AV hockey and got great results from it and played really well, (ii) or we took the foot of the gas and played a pretty laid back style where we took no chances, these games were always very much 50/50 games, or (iii) reverated back to Torts-type of hockey and just threw the puck away (especially against Boston).

As the lines have settled down and got a lot of time together, we have become more and more confident with playing the (i) game. And the lines between (i) and (ii) has become more blury (for a while there we where a total night and day type of team).

From my point of view, Philly cannot match our (i) game. If we play our (ii) game, its a series that can go either way. And if we play (iii) we are in trouble for sure and will only get past round 1 with luck, shaky goaltending from Philly etc.

It will all come down to if our Ds have the guts and ability to hold on to the puck and make those passes under perssure of Philly's forecheck, if our forwards are able to play their part too in the aforesaid, and so forth. I am pretty confident that we will be able to do that. We have a deep team and will be able to keep the foot on the gas, our Ds are confident (please god let McD be ready and able to play all series), and so forth. But, Philly is a opertunistic team, they have ability to get under the skin and change mometun in a series like this. Its hard to tell how the series will play our for sure. Its one thing to sit here and estimate that we will be able to pull it of, the "atmosphere" can be pretty diffrent in a day and a half...

The Flyers D is mediocre at best, IMO. Susceptible to turnovers, old, and slow. People saying they are even remotely as good on D as we are are morons. Would literally take McDonagh over the entirety of the Flyers' blue line (not each player individually, the entire group of 6).

Even if we take Mac and Giraldi out of the equation, our bottom 4 is still better than their D core. Staal alone would be head and shoulders better than Timmion,Coburn or Schenn. Than we get to Stralman, overall still think he is better than anything Philly has. Their defense is slow and at best mediocre, if that.
