Snow blind, I usually find myself in agreement with you, however; I absolutely disagree with you this time. "Rags" is not short for "Rangers": it is not akin to "Pens" or " Sens". "rags" regardless of the context, always has a negative connotation.

It's true for some people but not everyone. Read posts by fans outside of our rivals and you'll see people use it in an unoffensive context. Thanks for usually agreeing with me. ;)

I've never heard anyone say "Rags" as short for the Rangers unless they meant it in an insulting way.

Philly:
19.7% PP percentage
11 Short-Handed Goals Against

NYR:
18.2% PP Percentage
7 Short Handed Goals Against

Philly:
84.9% PK Percentage
8 SHG

NYR:
85.3% PK Percentage
10 SHG

Also the Rangers were the 2nd least penalized team in the entire league this year. The Flyers were the 2nd most. That will be a big factor if the Rangers get more opportunities.

Moar Statz

That could be a VERY misleading stat. We all KNOW that Philly fights more than we do so that would ADD tons of minutes to that total, but it usually is a trade off 5 minutes each, so it kind of doesn't matter.

what DOES MATTER are minor penalties taken to drawn penalties. That differential still should be hugely in favor of Rangers as well, as we are VERY disciplined, they obviously are not......nor care to be. Part of their "mystique". lol

Absolutely correct.

Why is this series the only series with back-to-back games, seriously they should be never b2b games in the playoffs

Hahaha. Even the schedulers think that it won't go that far, (it'll be over in 5, maybe at worst 6) so it really wouldn't really even matter if they scheduled Tuesday night, followed by a Wednesday afternoon.......now would it? lmao

Mason left practice early. Word is he has whiplash, 50/50 for Thursday. They wouldn't say if he had a concussion. He took a good shot to the 'noggin. I had concussion with whiplash once, and it took about 2-3 weeks to feel normal again. Not fun.

Also Downie most likely out for Thursday. Akeson would play in his place.

Personally, I do not think man has invented a more difficult and demanding task than winning 16 games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. All regular season stats can be very misleading when you factor in all the random yet tangible things that have happened over the years.

So the playoffs are different. More so in the modern era.

Else you would not see 8th seeds making deep runs on a fairly regular basis. I agree completely with Pierre McGuire when he talks about the sense of inevitability taking over in a series. One team begins to feel that they must win and the other feels they almost certainly will lose.

So while you can't discount reg season stats completely, putting too much stock in them is a bit foolish.

Math can crumble quickly in the face of momentum, key injury, a red hot goalie or one team simply gaining Jedi like mojo over another.

The dichotomy of NYR performance at home and away this year sort of throws a wrench into traditional "win all games at home" sort of thinking.

So a Mason that is not 100%, or Emery who is god awful.

The Flyers are always super careful with concussions. :sarcasm:

So no Rags? Seriously? This is a thing? I've never heard it used as an insult, but I've changed my sig. Now just beat the crap out of the Flyers.

I used to feel it was no big deal. Even used it myself a time or two.

Then I spent more time on the main boards and got myself an education.

Would it not bother you if everyone called them the 'Lames instead of Canes...or something.

Nah, not really, but I see your point. But it does show a lack of respect, so I changed it. Now, back to the discussion...
