He's pretty terrible. I get the whole backup superstition but Ray Emery isn't some kid making his NHL debut, he's ****ing awful.
It's important to keep in mind that the majority of Emery's success against the Rangers was with Ottawa. Ottawa has always been a team the Rangers have trouble with.
With that being said, Emery can get into a "zone". He can play really really well. Sometimes Emery can look so good it makes you shake your head that the guy has so much talent and has never "put it together". That's not to say the Rangers can't beat him or whatever. I think if the Rangers go into this series thinking "Woo hoo, we get to play the backup goalie" like some fans are taking the news, the Rangers are going to get a rude awakening.
Emery is NOT a goalie the Rangers are going to rattle and he's not going to be intimated by the playoff atmosphere at Madison Square Garden.

Mason not travelling with team. Not a big deal as the two cities are so close, but maybe another sign that he is dealing with a concussion?

Correct. Emery does have playoff experience so that is something to factor in here. Mason on the other hand has nothing going for him.
Either way we can get through this series no problem

I think he is, but even if he wasn't, if he doesn't dress for game 1, no need to be there. With game 2 not until Sunday, Philly probaly goes back home to practice before game 2

The previous page is a bunch of people saying Emery scares them and the Rangers play horrible against back ups. I'm not sure a couple people saying this should be easy constitutes cockiness haha.
