I think this series hinges on McDonagh's health. If he is 100% or close, Rangers win. If he is limited, or plays to protect his shoulder, we could well lose.

Whats McD's current status? Is he still recovering or is he "ready to go" ? I've missed the last week or so of the season and read nothing about him.....

I think the refs are going to keep a very close eye on Rinaldo, I'd expect him to get whistled on anything that is borderline which is a huge bonus for the Rangers (if the PP works.)

I'd take a one armed McDonagh over any of the Flyers Defensemen. Hell, I'd take a no armed McD over Grossman and Schenn

Uh yeah, I don't think so. On the contrary...:help:

If they go after McD... Dorsett or carcillo (more of carcillo) will jump Giroux with no problem

Edit: I remember when dubi tried to go after nash and Dorsett almost got him with a dirty elbow at full speed... don't worry we got two dirty players :)

I could see that. I would love a 5-2 win in game 1. Hank plays us well but he has not been as untouchable against the rest of the league. Lappy should be doing some solid research and figuring out what works against them. The pens having so much success would be a great place to start.

Remember last year when caps fans were looking past us to the second round..yea that's us... lets focus on this round... one series at a time one game at a time one period at a time one shift at a time..let's do this boys

Philly is a very dangerous offensive team. No looking past them. You can't open it up against them. That's what the Pens do and you see the results. Play sound defensively and wear their defense down with a solid forecheck.

Lots of cliches but I agree. I'm very confident, which will make it hurt more if we lose.

Their offense turns into pudding when teams play sound defense against their fragile ego's. If we take both at home like we should this should be over in at most 5.

Playoffs; Martin St. Louis

While Callahan is dearly missed and has produced well with the Lightning, trading him was a natural decision; his style-of-play means he won't be in the NHL for the long haul.

St. Louis has been sub-par here, just like pretty much every overpaid star who gained a reputation by playing with stud linemates before coming to NYR. However, if he finds a groove with Nash or Richards, this team could win the Cup.

What do you think? How important is performing well here for MSL and the organization?

Three simple words!!! PLEASE STEP UP. This guy is supposed to be a superstar now is the time to show it. Trade was a bad one and will be even worse if he doesn't have a good playoffs

Supposedly ready to go, but I would worry about his health. Teams tend to be very coy about injuries, they said "nothing structural", in which case 2-3 weeks should be more than enough. But I saw the hit he took (which was very much a cheap shot in a game that was completely decided), and it sure looked structural to me.

I feel like the last several years, the first round of the playoffs has been the most aggressively played by teams.

Meaning... this Rangers Flyers series will finally become a war - i.e. it will get as bad as, if not worse, than the third time they played this season... where every player on the ice played with reckless abandon.

Both teams also played this style of hockey in game 2.

Rangers won game 2, lost game 3.

I expect a lot of bad blood between the teams. I think with Reade stirring the pot, and Richards reaffirming how the team will stick together... that this will end up being a series where the Rangers finally show their balls.

You can't worry about players taking a run at McDonagh. He has plenty of experience playing against Ovechkin the last two years, along with facing guys like Chris Neil, Zach Smith, Milan Lucic, Brad Marchand, and Shawn Thornton. All guys who finish their checks hard. He will be fine.

Yeah, this isn't exactly the 1st time McDonagh has faced a rough team.
