I think DD should play at home, Carcillo on the road. Flyers might be more inclined to stick up for each other on home ice in a way against a former teammate like Carcillo. Carbomb running around could also put the fans focus on him, too.

Though, this could all be moot as AV might trust Carcillo the vet over Fast the rookie in games...

It's insane that the cheapest tickets on Stubhub for game 1/2 at MSG are $161/145, and the cheapest tickets for game 3/ 4 at Philly are only $86/87.

What are the chances Hartnell gets a small suspension and we see the Flyers lineup sans Hartnell for a game or two?

I think 5 and the game was enough. The league seems intent on eliminating hits to the head. Stuff like this doesn't normally elicit suspensions. If anything it maybe deserves a game, but I doubt there will be supplemental discipline.

Got Game 1 Lightning/Habs tickets for $40 a piece. :)

lineup

Forward lines I would like to see:

Nash - Stepan - MSL
Pouliot - Brassard - Zucc
Carcillo - Richards -Hagelin
Boyle - Moore - Dorsett

Carcillo - he actually has 12 points in 37 playoff games! That's great for a tough guy! By comparison, Dorseet has just 1 assist in 12 playoff games.

I don't see any issue with having Carcillo and Dorsett in the lineup together. Carcillo can play hockey when asked to do so...and playing with Richards and Hagelin I assume he will be asked to play hockey for the most part. If needed ,he will stand up for his teammates. Dorsett brings very good speed to the lineup and we need that. Again, both add toughness and we need that against Philly...especially with Kreider out and us having tiny guys like MSL and Zucc.

I like J.T.Miller but he has no playoff experience and I don't think we need to throw him into such a big rivalry game. I would insert him later in the series if we are really not scoring at all.

Your point about Mason playing above his level of late is well received, but it's also important to note that a hot goalie doesn't necessarily stop being hot in the playoffs.

What I would say is this...

Mason catches right, one of the few in the league.
The majority of the Rangers offensive talent comes from the right hand side. Nash, MSL, Zuccarello are typically right wingers. That's changed a bit recently with Nash on the left but who knows how long that will last. That means on rushes and a lot of possession, our shots will be coming form the right, with his blocker side facing the shooter. I'd actually be very interested in a season breakdown of NYR shots and where they have come from.

No, regression to the mean never means it's going to regress immediately, and a seven game playoff series isn't a large sample, and goaltending is extremely variable to begin with. But if I had to bet whether Mason would be above or below 0.917, I take the under every time.

Doesn't look to be the case.

I was actually looking at that and my mind was blown.
I expected a price difference but not that much, it's cheaper to go down to philly and rent a hotel room with decent seats than to sit in the 400s, even during game 2!
