McDavid is a great player and will be enshrined in the HOF after he retires. Does McDavid have good chemistry with any other players? As I watch him play, it seems like he does things all on his own. Like he takes control and scores on his own volition. Do Edm fans see the same thing or does he click with other players?

Patrick Maroon put up a 27 goal season on McDavid's wing

Draisaitl, but if you watch the Oilers, that should go without saying. Right now he has great chem with Nuge, it's subtle sometimes but it's absolutely incredible. One play, can't remember if it was against the blues or the pens but Nuge made a quick one touch between the legs pass of a deflection to find McDavid; it was absolutely ludicrous. They read and react off each other and each of them posses elite passing. Also him and Kane have incredible chem off the rush.

This! Well said. McDavid just seems to make players better around him

Andreas Athanasiou was a disappointment thought. I thought he would be awesome on a line with McDavid

I don't think there are words that can easily describe his play, because in almost 50 years of watching, maybe, maybe Bobby Orr carries the same sort of awe factor. Gretzky did it more subtly and things that you would shake your head at (Like bouncing it in off the back of the goalie on purpose.)

Maybe Bure a little bit...but really nothing I have seen comes that close to McDavid. (I seem to say "Are you shitting me?" a couple times every game now)

McDavid is hard to play with from what I've seen. Draisaitl can play with pretty much anyone.

McDavid played well with maroon as mentioned, Draisaitl, and Kane. Currently playing very well with both Nuge and Hyman. He has had chemistry with Nuge in a few different combos.

He is a rare player because he really doesnt "need" chemistry to produce consistently but obviously it still helps/matters overall.

Also I seem to recall a spinorama pass from Nuge to McDavid against Nashville, I think on the PP.

Domi would be a great fit in Yamos spot

As to the McDavid topic:
We are witnessing greatness every single night
He's truly incredible, like dominating in every aspect of the game, even this many years in it's still mind blowing.

Like the video game move on McCabe was insane.

I agree. I remember talking with people who were seeing Gretzky play live for the first time saying that they were disappointed that he did not stand out as much as they thought he would yet he still had 4 points. Meanwhile, those of us who saw him night in and night out marveled at all the incredible little things he had done that could easily have gone unnoticed. McDavid is very different. The first time I saw him play live he was 16 and he just wowed me. Then I saw him with the rookies before his first year and could not believe how fast he did everything. You really need to see him live to appreciate how fast he is.

Yeah, I recall that play. Gave McDavid open net to shoot at but just heeled it.

edit: It was 5 on 5 play though

When the hockey is tight nowadays, the best ways to be ahead is speed (check) and doing unexpected, often subtal things - and thats why it takes a smart brain to play with McDavid, you have to be able to read out new sorts of openings, touches, deflections.
So it takes good players to play with McDavid..

McDavid is the best player in NHL but he has been struggling 5-on-5 play, to his standards. After 36 games he is 13 + 9 which isn't normal space for McDavid. In power play he is killing it. 5-on-5 he is even player 27GF to 27 GA, fenwick and corsi are basically even. I would expect even better from him.

McDavid has a high iq game, wich demands linemates to think about finding hidden space on ice, read plays on an elite level, otherwise his extra dimensional talents is not used to the potential.
He demands a Nuge McDavid Draisaitl line in the best of worlds, but that would tottaly sink the teams depth.
The other option is Kane McDavid Hyman, wichbis doable.
McDavid isnt a Pulju, yam, Holloqay, Kostin, McLeod kind of guy.

We are so f***ing lucky to have this guy and I really hope he’s a lifelong Oiler. Enjoy him because I doubt we have another player of this caliber suit up for the Oilers for a very, very, very, very long time. Possibly ever. He’s THAT good.

No wonder people hate the Oilers. Wayne and then Connor. Unreal.

Our team defense and Campbell have been very bad. Add to that that his winger has been hurt for most of the season and there you have it.

Agree
Connor is a puck possession player. Seems most compatible with higher skill playmakers & scorers, or power forwards.

He's proven incompatible with a pretty long list of wingers. Just look at Tobi Rieder's 67 game stint with the Oilers... 0 goals ( and he did see shifts with Connor & Leon)

As for Draisaitl
- great vision and passing, so piles up Assists on McDavid goals
- scores from The Spot™ where <insert anyone> piles up assists by passing to The Spot™ (often it is McDavid, moreso on PP)
- "pass first 50 Goal Scorer" who's deadly on 3v3 OT or any in-game 2 on 1 with McDavid
