McDavid heating up, what are odds on 150 points this season?

when you look outside the powerplay.
Arbitrarily removing production from certain parts of the game is the sign of a flawed argument.

Draisaitl on any other team (i.e. not playing on a powerplay with McDavid) likely has 20-25 fewer points this year and is right there with all of those guys. That was my point. Offensively he's not a clear #2 when you remove the McDavid effect, and defensively he's way behind.
Objection. Calls for speculation. You can't prove this and conveniently ignore other good players also getting to play with good players. Apply the same standards to them as well.

Mike Smith had a .913 SV% last year in the playoffs.
Against Avs, the Oilers allowed 21 goals in 4 games and at least four goals each game. That's a GAA of over 5GA per game..

In the entire last year's playoffs, Tampa allowed 4+ goals 6 times, and they lost all 6.

So I do not get the point you are trying to make: Is it that the Oilers should have beat Colorado because Smith played well against LA?

Except he doesn't "kill most of those guys in production" when you look outside the powerplay. If it is so easy to dominate on the PP why are the other teams/players not doing it?

You do realise all time greats like Lemieux got a metric ton of points on the PP right?

Also, laughable McDavid effect point. It shows you speak pure nonsense. Please provide proof of that claim.

I’m surprised the versatility of Drai over Kucherov didn’t help prevent these goals. He PKS and is better than Kuch defensively except when it mattered….

I see, moving the goalposts now....

Again explain to me how Mike Smith's SV% is relevant to what the Oilers did against the Avs? You brought it up...

And I still do not understand what Kucherov's and Draisaitl playoff's performance and versatility, or its lack, have to do with McD reaching or not 150 goals...

Why does any McD thread needs to be derailed towards 50/50, or MacK being more complete or Kucherov being so awesome in playoffs?

I’m not moving any goal posts. Go read my original post regarding the conversation you entered.

Here it is for reference.

Then someone brought up that was based on team success and goaltending.

I see deflecting again...

You brought up Mike Smith SV%, so again, what is the point you are trying to make?

My point was crystal clear; I think: Mike Smith was terrible against the Avs, and It is not easy to overcome this.

My point was crystal clear too. Kucherov is a 100 pt forward that wins playoff series with his versatility.

You're the one that brought up goaltending.

No, it's a sign of considering things in context. Abstract reasoning is a sign of higher intelligence. That's what separates humans from animals.

If you really think other elite players wouldn't produce more on the powerplay with McDavid than their current teams, you must not think much of McDavid.

There’s abstracting and then there is inventing. You are inventing something to (poorly) refute what we all can actually see/experience.

Draisaitl is producing more points than the other guys. Dealwithit.gif etc.

What guys do you speak of ? Your telling us Leon Draisaitl will be in a race with his 21 year old countrymen Stutzle who is just starting his career , Brayden Point and Mikka Zibanejab if McDavid wasn't handing him points eh ?

What you drinking man ? Seriously what is it ? A prime Leon Draisaitl is fighting Mikka Z in the scoring race without 97. Now go ask the Rangers what they would do if the Oilers called them offering LD29 for Mikka.

This is the same guy who had 17 points in 5 games against the powerhouse Flames last year on one leg 🤣🤣

Never change HF

Are you Jackson Pollock? Abstract reasoning still needs to be grounded somewhere. Other elite players would produce more on a powerplay with McDavid, but implied in your responses is that you think other elite players wouldn't also produce more with Draisaitl on the powerplay. The 32% powerplay is not just because of McDavid, it's also because Drai can score better and is only a slightly worse passer.

Just as you would venture to guess that Drai coming off of the EDM pp would result in less points, I would venture to guess that whatever other PP he moves to is instantly improved.

There is a difference between abstract reasoning and fabricating evidence to support your own flawed view. Before you go spouting anything about higher intelligence maybe you should learn what abstract reasoning really is and then apply it.

HES BEATING PRIME KUCHEROV BY 40 POINTS WTF

Wayne gretzky type domination
It will be 50 by the end of the season. Just watch.

Draisaitl is one of the worst defensive players in the league, even by the standards of offensively elite players. He's number 2 in the league if all you care about is offensive stats and not winning games. He gets a significantly larger percentage of his points on the powerplay than anyone else in that elite-but-not-McDavid category, and he gets those by playing with McDavid, so it's not a stretch to say he's not significantly better offensively than anyone else in the top 10 for scoring (aside from RNH, who is absolutely a product of that powerplay).

I'd easily take MacKinnon, Kucherov or Matthews over him. Probably also Pastrnak and Point.
🤣🤣🤣🤣

Was wondering when I would see someone jump out of the bushes with an uncalculatable formula.

Yet again, McDavid has shown what a true generational looks like by maintaining (or even exceeding) the same high PPG in one half stacked up against the other half of a same season.

76 points in 41 first half games for 1.854 PPG.
70 points in 36 second half games with 5 games remaining for 1.944 PPG.

Yeah, it’s always way more impressive when someone goes through the entire grind of a season and pulls this kind of thing off.

What is going on in this thread? So he has what 6 games left? Will he make it?
Yeah, IDK, some people are getting way off track. It's about McDavid. 5 games left. Needs 10 points in the final 5 to hit 156. That's what I'm hoping for. Maybe a few more goals to not give Pasternak any hope either. lol

I don't think Connor hits that 156 mark. They play LA tomorrow. That will be a snoozefest trapping game all night. Then he has 4 left.
