This is selfish of me as a Mcdavid fan but...
I want him to have 170 points.
70 goals, 100 assists.

McDavid is on pace for a crazy 157 points right now. The last time that happened was in 1995-96, a season that actually had less goals per game than this year. Lemieux coming off a season where he was limited to 22 games, put up an incredible 161 points at the age of 30. It also only took him 70 games to do it.
People forget how good Lemieux was, there is no extent McDavid is better than him other than health. Lemieux was on pace for 189 points in a lower scoring environment than today, and that was after injuries had already started taking a toll.
So he's getting 150 in the next 2 games
Whats more impressive: 70G or 160P?
I think i'd prefer the 70G. Matthews fan club will be in shambles.
I don't know if there's a stat on this or not, but I've been seeing a lot of players in highlights scoring these this year too - it's like he's popularized it.It's almost like he's unlocked one of those glitch moves in the old NHL games that can't be stopped with the 5 hole shots.
100 assists has only been done by 3 players ever. Orr 1x, Lemieux 1x, Gretzky 11x lol. This is selfish of me as a Mcdavid fan but...

Some big brain in Toronto is still going to keep him from winning the Hart unanimously.
Last year it was a Pittsburgh writer that left Matthews and McDavid off his ballot completely. Some big brain in Toronto is still going to keep him from winning the Hart unanimously.
You just know there'll be people who criticize this move for "stat padding" instead of sitting him out.He will play, and he should play.
This isn't a run of the mill superstar season here. McDavid is chasing history. It would be offensive to not allow him to do that.
People that do garbage like that should have their voting privileges immediately revoked.Last year it was a Pittsburgh writer that left Matthews and McDavid off his ballot completely.
Already is as far as I'm concerned. If he was the same age as Messier and riding shotgun behind Gretzky the Oilers win every year from 1982 until Pocklington can't afford to keep enough of them.He can't afford a three game slump. It will need to be consistent great performances to get to 150. I think he will be very close.
OT: How does McDavid become the second greatest Oiler? I assume he has yet to surpass Messier. Two cups? More MVP's?
Not really, should've won Calder and Hart (ahead of Hall)McDavid from the GTA, he gets the homer votes.

Ya remember when Gretzky had 130 something points his first year and was disqualified from getting the Calder, Pepperidge Farms remembers. Not really, should've won Calder and Hart (ahead of Hall)
I would love to get a @Garbageyuk & @Jordan Belfort take on how mcdavid's season is winding down.

100 percent he should of won the calder, he was more dominate then 30 year old panarin was. And it wasn't even close. The difference was an injuryDefinitely should not have won either.
Can't win the Calder when someone has ~30 more points than you. Also, Hall lead a bad team to the playoffs. He had like 40+ points on his next closest teammate, it was well deserved.
I’ve never understood this rhetoric. You do realize that if goals per game overall is roughly equal, it being that much easier to score a powerplay goal means it was that much harder to score a 5v5 goal? Considering his even strength points were almost identical to his powerplay points, for every powerplay point he would lose for it being harder to score there, he would gain almost that exact amount in even strength points for it being easier to score there, no? What your left with is exactly what you currently have, him finishing almost as far ahead of McDavid as McDavid is to his closest competitor. Not counting shootout goals towards totals, league wide goal scoring was pretty much identical. However, PPG/game, which especially benefits Lemieux(Lemieux was 4th in EVP, 22 behind Jagr) was way higher that year.
'95-'96 .9 PPG/g.
'22-'23 .66 PPG/g.
Lemeiux also likely averaged 8-9 mins on the PP each game if you do some research.McDavid is on pace for a crazy 157 points right now.
