McDavid heating up, what are odds on 150 points this season?

He finished that season with 120 points in 79 games. McDavid's best full season was 123 in 81 last season. He also did this with 2 minutes less ice time per game.

We’ve been over this. You have zero interest in acknowledging that power play opportunities were still through the roof in 2006-2007. What do you want me to say at this point?

“Full season”.

2020-2021 was a 56 game season and McDavid played all of them. It’s a full season. It was also better than anything Crosby ever did. This season is also better than anything Crosby has done and McDavid has been a top 2 scorer in both raw points and PPG for what will be the 7th consecutive year, something Crosby never did.

We’re a couple of months away from yet more nonsense being banished forever, when McDavid will have a 30 point bulge in raw points during a “full season”.

Lol, weird stance considering I'm not ignoring anything while you've ignored scoring levels when boasting about McDavid's consecutive dominant halves of seasons (and still hasn't done it on a level above Crosby over 82 games, as Crosby's 19 year old season proves). Yes we've been over this but scoring is higher today than it was in 2006-07, both in overall goals per game and among the top scorers.

2.88 vs. 3.12

That is pretty consistent with the difference in the top players point totals in each of these seasons in raw points and points per game after 50-60 games.

McDavid is 11th in the NHL in powerplay time, :52 seconds behind 1st place Ovechkin.

Crosby in 2006-07 was 7th in powerplay time, 1:16 seconds behind Kovalchuk who was the 1st place forward.

Crosby had a slightly higher ES to PP point ratio after 56 games that season as well, but the difference is negligible and both really feasted on the powerplay.

Crosby also never played as regularly with another elite scorer that season and Malkin hadn't really broke out yet at that point.

Once again though, we can all see McDavid getting around 140 at the least, and I maintain that I hope he goes above and beyond that if possible.

The idea that McDavid has shown anything Crosby hasn't over a full season is entirely false.

In last 82 games McD scored 58 goals and had 145 points,
I think around those numbers he ends up if stays healthy.

60G+80A was last done by Mario and Jagr in 95-96

Yeah, there’s always some excuse for why Crosby didn’t collect as many Art Rosses or even 90+ point seasons that he should have.

The thing is he hasn't gone on any huge run in some time so his chances of hitting 150 are dwindling rapidly. Not that it matters but still. It would be cool to see. It's like you are just waiting for him to go off and get like 30 points in 15 games or something like he tends to do in the second half of a season. lol

I mean he did get hurt while leading the league in scoring on 3 separate occasions. If you think McDavid is better that's perfectly fine, I don't see why it's such a problem to acknowledge that Crosby had some really terrible luck with injuries throughout his career. Like I don't get why some people get so worked up over that. It's objectively true that he dealt with a lot of injury issues at some really inopportune times.

How man seasons has Crosby outscored his peers?

How many seasons has McDavid out scored his peers?

It’s really that simple.

I'm going to say by the time it's all good and done McDavid will be the NHL's 2nd all-time leading scorer only behind #99.
If he hits 140 points this year, he'd be 1,083 points behind Jagr at age 26.

So if he averaged about 108 points per year, he could get there by age 36.

And nearly 7 seasons in a row - 97 points in 64 games before the Covid shutdown in 2019-20.

Yep, one of the great things about McDavid is that his what it scenarios are at a minimum. He loses his 100 point streak, could have easily gone out and not gotten 100 in a shortened 56 game season, and instead started a new one that makes us look back and marvel that 3 points off is all it would have taken to give him 7 straight right now.

Don’t have to jump through hoops, twirl around in circles, contort our bodies, and join a cult to make a players’ run better than it really was with this kid.

Incredible start to a career that is hopefully not even at the end of its healthy first half.

Who knows how McD will age?

At age 26 Crosby had 5th 100 pts seasons, realistically could have had 9 if was healthy and no lockout.

At age 26 McD has 6th 100 pts season, realistically could have had 7 if no covid.

Crosby played played 550 games.
McD will play around 570 games, same mileage basically.

Aged 27+ Crosby was healthy but only scored once more than 90 pts.
PPG was 1.40 up to 26yo and dropped to 1.15 at 27+

McD PPG now is 1.47
Who knows how McD will fare at 27+, many players do start a decline at this age.
