McDavid heating up, what are odds on 150 points this season?

You know a player has a legitimate shot at 150 when some think cooling down or slumping is when they’re on a 14 game point streak, have points in 31 of the last 32 games, and just 5 pointless games through 52 games on the season.

Because of a pair of games coming out of the All-Star break where he still picked up an assist in each?

I think that’s what gets him to 150 if he plays the full schedule. His slumps consist of 1.5 PPG and instead of being kept off the score sheet, he’s still picking up a point. That’s key.

Called it. He’s slowing down, and yes, his slumps are better than a lot of players’ hot streaks, but that won’t get him to 150.

The house always wins. Ridiculous how some posters here kept insisting he’s an absolute lock to do something incredibly unlikely, something that only 5 players ever have done, something that has never been seen in the modern NHL. Big crow feast at the end of the season for a few in here, but I expect them to backpedal already and no show when the time comes.

I wouldn’t care at all if they weren’t so obnoxious and condescending to me about it, but 🤷‍♂️

Please find posters saying he’s a lock.

You’ve mentioned this numerous times without actually providing any evidence.

Glad to know the seasons over.

He’s also on pace for 148 still after even “slowing” down.

That’s how good McDavid is. Has 9 goals and 12 assists for 21 points in the 14 games played in 2023 (notching a point in every game) and the usual crowd are back after a pair of 1 assist games post All-Star break gibbering about the condescending phantasms.

Perhaps wait until he’s goes through something like 8 points in 10 games before crowing about “calling it” because you’re going to look like a damn fool when he inevitably rips off 13-15 points in a 5 game stretch.

We could be heading into Game 82 with McDavid sitting on 149 points and you, as a supposed Oilers fan, will be praying he doesn’t get a point so you can be “right”.

What a horrible night to have a curse.

Go through the thread. I didn’t say it, so it’s not on me to dig it up for you. He was on pace for 155 about a month ago. That’s significant. Also, a number of posters claimed he would increase his pace as the season went on. We aren’t seeing that, obviously.

Ah the old refusal of actually providing any evidence.
For being an “oiler” fan it’s weird how you’re cheering for McDavid to slump so you can be an “I told you so” moment.

You also had so much pushback because you couldn’t comprehend how him being on pace after 20 vs 50 games made a difference, you still don’t seem to get it. Considering one 3 point game gets him back to 150 pace.

Wrong. I’d love to see him do it, and hope he does. I just don’t think he’s going to.

You say the condescension was “phantasms”, but then insinuate I can’t be an Oilers fan because I have a different opinion than you in the same post lmao.

I expect a ton of gaslighting and backpedaling as it becomes clear he isn’t going to make it, so it’s not surprising.

I’m not insinuating anything, I’m speaking to you directly here.

A fan of McDavid, the Oilers, hockey, history, whatever, would rather see him do it than hope he misses out like you’re doing to be right on an ancient message board.

I’ve read the thread every step of the way. You’ve been seeing shadows the whole time.

Look out behind you!

You’re aware mods delete certain kinds of posts right? Lmao.

And yes, calling me a “supposed Oilers fan” because you disagree with my opinion insinuates that I’m really not, in fact, an Oilers fan. You “speaking to [me] directly” doesn’t change that.

I'd relax before you crown yourself right lol...

How did you know he was a poster?
Because I was lurking and read the thread? Nice try with the gotcha though

Ok. It reminds of a few times McDavid has has a run of a handful games where he has more pedestrian stats, and people have claimed at these times over the years that Kucherov, Mackinnon, Matthews, Draisaitl, Makar, abs recently Jason Robertson aware at his level, ir even better.

As if a sample size of a few games compromises a bigger one of his last few hundred.

Yes, his pace has slowed to a paltry 148 pts from 155 in this recent “slump”. But he’s never not come out of a slump. Your only hope is injury. I’m sure you do hope it, too.
Yes obviously he is better than those guys by a good margin. I’m just saying he’s slowed down and will revert back to the mean. Is that really that controversial?

Man I don't understand the people who come into this thread after a few single point games to gloat that he wont hit 150. Do they not realize he has over 20, 3 point games? It's very easy for him to get back on track after 2 games.

You're so invested in trying to prove your bad takes aren't actually bad takes and desperately hoping McDavid won't hit 150 even though you can't distinguish 2 wildly different sample sizes from one another.

Expecting a legendary disappearing act from you once he does in fact achieve it.
