McDavid heating up, what are odds on 150 points this season?

23 goals in 27 games. If he only averages his career goals per game pace and plays all 82 games, he'll finish with 51 goals.

He's pretty much a lock for 50 goals this season if he stays healthy.
He'd better keep shooting, too, though. Only 5 shots combined last last three games. Incredibly enough, four goals on those five shots so what do I know, lol.

It would be a travesty if Oilers miss the playoffs, I couldn't care less about points against Arizona. I want to see him on the big stage again.

Leading the league in goals and assists is a strong signal of greatness.

Ignoring the early era guys, only Howe, Espo (playing with Orr), Lemieux and Gretzky did it. The Big 4 all connected.

Didn’t Jagr do this before? Or maybe he came close coming 2nd in goals

5th fastest player to hit 50 points within 25 games I think. Everybody else who did it played in the 80s very early 90s

They won't miss, but the stupid gm needs to upgrade the D

150+ is looking very realistic now. I wonder what the gap between him and second place will be.

o/u 20 point gap?

Depends on how close Drai sticks to him. But the over is probably a good bet at the moment.

The race to 800 points continues.

The 10 quickest in history are:

Gretzky 352 games
Lemieux 410 games
Bossy 525 games
Stastny 531 games
Kurri 558 games
Crosby 571 games
Orr 575 games
Trottier 580 games
Savard 581 games
Hawerchuk 593 games

McDavid has 749 points in 514 games.

His current career average sees him get to 800 points in 549 games which would be 5th quickest.

Remarkable.

He is at his peak right now, but the scoring league-wide is also at its highest since 93-94, which is helping a lot.

Probably we will see the best season points-wise since 95-96:

Lemieux 161 pts in 70 games
Jagr 149 pts in 82 games

If you add the shortened season to the beginning of last season he had something like 152 points in 82 games. I think he probably puts up 140 this year.

He was also relatively snake bitten last year vs his normal stats and still almost put up almost 130. If he can avoid the McFlu it's definitely possible.

People were super high on him after his production in the short season, and assumed he'd do 150 the following year, and he barely passed 120.

In an absolute perfect storm season could he hit 150? I think he could, but I say it's extremely unlikely.

Don't forget last year he had the absolutely insane playoff run. You know he wants to repeat that. If Oilers seem to be safely in the playoffs come March/April, does McDavid continue to "go all out" accumulating points in the regular season, or does he slow down a bit to make sure he's super fresh come playoffs so he can repeat last year's playoff performance? I could see it being the latter.

It was a horrible look on McDavid in my opinion in the shortened season when he finished season so strong, and came out completely flat in a round 1 playoff sweep. I don't think he wants to repeat that.

Every time I watch, it seems like the game is basically too easy for him in this soft ass league, it isn't even fun to watch anymore.

Need to bring back some holding and hooking and taking runs at superstars lol

Anyway at least we finally got a legit generational player for the new NHL era.

lol mcdavid would cripple the non professionals of any time below 2000s. League is so much better today its not even close.

he hit 50 already

faster than last year by a game

3 games faster.

He hit 50 points on December 29, 2021. It was his 30th game of the year.

A couple of key differences
Draisailt hit 50 on the same night. This year, he's 8 points back.
McDavid had 17 goals upon hitting 50 points. This year, he's at 24.

He is the fastest player to do so since Lemieux in 1996.
