Speculation: Mcdavid and Eichel Contracts

I feel like McDavid is that "good guy" and will sign a long term deal similar to the percentage of the cap Hall, Eberle, and Nuge signed a few years ago

Because Eberle and Nudge are as good as McDavid.

I'm predicting 70-75 for mcdavid, and 60-65 for eichel.

I think these are both low estimates. McDavid will be over PPG and top 5 in the scoring race this year IMO. I'll say 75-80 for Eichel; he was very close to a PPG pace in the 2nd half of last season.

If Crosby doesn't get the max, nobody should.

Even by that logic, the cap has gone up.....so give him the same % of the cap that Crosby signed for.

And I think McDavid will be better than Crosby by this year, if he isn't already.

McDavid hits $10MM a year no problem. Probably more. Dead serious. If he doesn't get offered it, he just waits until he will, and he will. I could see him net 8 years, $100MM, and and I'd do it in a heartbeat.

That's over 12 million. Have fun crippling the rest of your team haha no player should ever get paid that much

If I'm a team with cap space I offer sheet McDavid at 10x8 easily.

Neither is going to sign for less than 10M a year long term nor should they

You're undervaluing star players. He should definitely get paid that much.

But that restricts your ability to sign a good team around said star player, making him useless. Crosby and Malkin won their first cup on ELCs, but after signing huge contracts they have 1 cup in 6 years because their supporting cast has been subpar up until this past season. Look at Chicago, constantly having to trade away good key players (Saad, Sharp, Shaw, Teravainen) because Kane and toews eat up 20 mill. Maybe he's worth that much in a vacuum but the rest of your team will suffer big time

I feel he will sign for around $8x8. He isn't going to want to screw his team over, 3 years into his career. Toews and Kane signed generous contracts, then once they won all their cups, they deserved to get $10+.
McDavid won't demand an outrageous contract before they even win a cup. Especially since he is likely to have the 'C' on his sweater next year

This thread reminds me of how Stamkos would get 9, 10, 11 a season and people where so sure they were right then he ended up signing for 8.5.

McDavid taking a discount. 6M x 8 years. He will cash in through endorsements.
