McDavid has a historyI can't imagine these lead to multiple game suspensions. $5000 fine, or maybe one game each. I would be shocked if it was more than that.
But not a history that will be considered in this scenario. According to NHL rules, a player is considered a "repeat offender" if they have been suspended within the previous 18 months. McDavid's only other suspension came in 2019. Scenarios where punishment wasn't handed out - like the Mojo incident last week which was deemed non-punishable, can't be used as evidence.McDavid has a history
So if the police don't stop someone from keying my car it's their fault when I commit murder? I'm not responsible at all? Just going to leave my car in my neighbours driveway, brb.Refs are supposed to be there to call things before it gets too heated. They failed to do so. This is on them. Can't fault McDavid for being angry that this hobbit is attached to him when his team is trying to win with 30 seconds left.
Are you equating what McDavid did to murder? Wtf? Bit of a stretch there budSo if the police don't stop someone from keying my car it's their fault when I commit murder? I'm not responsible at all? Just going to leave my car in my neighbours driveway, brb.
The refs not calling a penalty isn’t a reasonable justification for hitting a player in the head with your stick on purpose lol objectively not a hockey play either.Refs are supposed to be there to call things before it gets too heated. That's one way to look at it. I think what others are suggesting, is that if the refs had called the holding penalties, it wouldn't have escalated, just as if someone prevented your car from being keyed, you wouldn't have murdered someone in retaliation. While this argument is an attempt to shift blame somewhat to the officials, I don't think most are outright saying that McDavid and Myers hold no responsibility for their actions - just that if the refs had done their job, things wouldn't have escalated as they did. The ones who are suggesting it isn't McDavid's fault need to give their head a shake though. So if the police don't stop someone from keying my car it's their fault when I commit murder? McDavid is showing that if you f*** with him, he'll strike back. I'd rather see a bit of emotion from him so the next time Garland thinks about giving him a hug on the ice, he'll remember that cross check to the neck didn't feel so nice. The refs not calling a penalty isn’t a reasonable justification for hitting a player in the head with your stick on purpose lol objectively not a hockey play either.
Two minutes each.
That’s fine. You are allowed to like what he did….but he deserves a suspension for doing it lolMcDavid is showing that if you f*** with him, he'll strike back. We can like what he did for the reasons above, but we also have to acknowledge that he crossed a line and should get a fair punishment for it. I don't mind McDavid pushing back, but he has to be careful to not go over the line.McDavid is showing that if you f*** with him, he'll strike back. Oh I'm fine with the suspension, but do I think he was wrong to do it? Hell no. If he doesn't do what he did, players will see that weakness as a green light to f*** with him. Sometimes a little suspension is worth it.We can like what he did for the reasons above, but we also have to acknowledge that he crossed a line and should get a fair punishment for it. I understand your position here, but could it not also lead to more players screwing with McDavid in hopes that he takes a suspension?Oh I'm fine with the suspension, but do I think he was wrong to do it? That was a joke to highlight the problem in what the guy I was responded to said. I've posted in here several times giving the same perspective. If the refs don't let Bouchard get away with taking Pettersson out of the play with a hold 2 zones away from the puck earlier in that shift, then that same braindead ref doesn't watch Garland holding McDavid and go "well I didn't call that one so I can't call this". Game management is stupid and it's how you end up with escalation. That's one way to look at it. Not according to Friedman who had some other explanation for it.But not a history that will be considered in this scenario. Imo it's worth the risk. I'm sure after this McDavid will be reflecting on his actions. I think players are always gonna try and knock him off his game. So he'll have to work on not giving into frustration. But I understand why he was so frustrated in that situation.I understand your position here, but could it not also lead to more players screwing with McDavid in hopes that he takes a suspension?
Your "analogy" wasn't worth a serious reply. When someone makes an analogy they are comparing the relationship between two things. They aren't comparing the two things directly or saying they are the same or "equal" as you put it.
He needs to retaliate in a way that isn’t cross checking a guy in the face then.I understand your position here, but could it not also lead to more players screwing with McDavid in hopes that he takes a suspension?

Luckily the videos been posted numerous times and everyone is free to see the truth, they don’t need either of our paradingSure, because it refutes everything you’re parading in this thread.
Garland’s hold as per his own words is McDavid’s fault and Canuck fans remain the brightest on these boards.
