Yeah he needs to go. Too much under developed talent on this team. I'm almost certain we can get better play out of Stafford, Ennis, Grigs, Sekera, Myers, and Ehrhofff on a nightly basis with a better coach. This team has no identity. We're not sound defensively. We're not offensively creative. We don't trap. The Sabres identity despite the co-captains era has been great goaltending. Something tells me Ruff doesn't elevate the play of our franchise goaltenders. Also I don't like guys leaving and becoming better players. I think that's the case with CMac and Paille. They were underdeveloped when they left.

They have before. Saw a sign that said. "We're maxed out, trade him" Later on that year we traded max...

Yeah, Max wasn't traded.

Good day sir.

Its funny how much of a difference a year can make. I bet the board was 50-50 on this topic a year ago, now I'm not sure there are any Ruff supporters left. Hopefully management feels the same wa-- ah who am i kidding

Is it the shoes? Or is it the skates?

Coaching coaching coaching. I saw Ruff whispering in Patricks ear after the penalty tonight. But I also saw too many men deep in the Ottawa zone so the players have to have some amount of responsibility. Or do they? Cause when the dummy coach taps you that means on you go.
Goodbye Lindy, James and Kevyn.

Please.

Sorry I guess this should go into the fire Ruff thread. But I'm guessing some of you are going to say clearly this was a player mistake. But if you don't go over the boards when a coach taps you, maybe you don't get to go again for a while so you do what you're told. Interesting if any of them are paying attention.

I thought we traded him to Atlanta, but okay later that season he was let go after fans displayed displeasure. Musta got him and McCarthur mixed up

You're on something.

Afingenov was not resigned as a free agent because his performance had fallen through the floor.

His last 2 seasons with the Sabres:

07-08 : 56 GP, 10g 18a, -16
08-09 : 48 GP, 6g 14a, -7

He couldn't stay healthy, and his offensive performance wasn't good enough to cover for his complete lack of defensive ability.

His only full NHL season was the next year in ATL. A good one with 61 points, but also a quality -17. He was SUCH a good player that he hasn't played in the NHL since then.....

So yeah. You can continue to argue that Max wasn't kept because some drunk fools in 312 tossed up some 'MAX SUCKS' signs on the walls, but any reasonable hockey analysis will tell you that he wasn't kept because he wasn't that good a player anymore.

Hey Folks, my debut here. Stupid question: Why do you want the coach fired so badly? I am not an expert at all and I am not so much into NHL anymore. But is the Sabres' roster really good enough for a Play-Off spot? I would doubt that. I mean, I know Sulzer and Hecht and their ability - maybe that's why I'm asking ;-)

Thank you in advance for being nice to an obvious rookie.

If we miss the playoffs I can live with that, albeit its really disappointing obviously. I think the main problem for people is the manner in which we are losing games, and how poor we are to watch. Same mistakes each game, no invention in the lines etc. Losing is ok if you lose in the correct manner which we are not. We are moving backwards, and Lindy has taken the Sabres as far as he can, and things need freshened up.

Or as the inscription above Ruff's office door reads: "Tis' better to live on your knee pads than to die on your skates tryin'."

Does anyone listen to Lindy Ruffs radio show I see advertised when watching the games? What's he saying at the moment? Is he even fielding questions regarding his future at all?

Only reason I would ever wake up that early to listen to Lindy Ruff speak is if he was getting fired.

I'm interested to see where things stand if we lose tonight and things get ugly against the Pens on Sunday--and with Miller's history against Pittsburgh, they very well might. I'm wondering if we'll hear audible "Fire Ruff" chants on television.
