Masalskis is the only reason it's still 1-0. What a ****ing save on the Swiss player trying to go back door with the pass but Masalskis dives over and makes an incredible save. Wow
He's been really good, but he's even better at selling his saves and making them look more impressive than they actually were. :)

In the last three games against Swiss, Masalskis has saved 93 of 95 shots... Source

refs are really stupid, last two penalties were just wtf?:shakehead

Check out the rules 120 III & IV and 210 from IIHF:

Rule 120 III:
A player whose stick is broken is forbidden to receive a stick thrown onto the ice from either the players’ bench or from a spectator, but he may receive a stick from a teammate on the ice at the time without having to proceed to his players’ bench to obtain a new one. This exchange, however, must be made hand-to-hand. A teammate who throws, tosses, slides, or shoots a stick to him will be assessed a minor penalty.

Rule 120 IV:
Rule 120-iii includes situations where a skater has lost an intact stick and a teammate is trying to get it to him.

Rule 210 II:
A goaltender whose stick is broken is forbidden to receive a stick
thrown onto the ice from either the players’ bench or from a spectator, but he may receive a stick from a teammate on the ice at the time without having to proceed to his players’ bench to obtain a new one. This exchange, however, must be made hand-to-hand. See also Rule 120-iii and 120-iv.

latvia got away with one of their players passing the stick to matsalskis in the first period. Can't really complain to get a penalty when doing it again.

Not sure who this colour commentator is alongside Gord Miller, but he is soooo biased in favour of the Swiss. It's disgusting.

It's our own fault that we're incapable of scoring...

Congraz to Latvia, a team that misses that many chances does not deserve to win.

Great defensive effort by Latvia and Masalskis was great as well. Where was all of that when he was playing in Ambri?

OH MY GOODNESS!!! What an unbelievably well played 2 on 2 by Darzins and Daugavins. Beautiful. So happy for the Latvians and especially Masalskis who deserves a W after that performance.

What a game. Damn. Good game to the both of you. Switzerland needs to learn how to elevate the puck better though. Some of those missed chances were painful. That last goal was beautiful.

****ing yes!!!!

Huh, Darzins and Daugavins are amazing this year.

And of course Masalskis - THE BEAST.

****ing Sprukts, though. Scores on his own net, then had like 3 chances to redirect the puck into the swiss net, and of course failed. :D

Masalkis is such an ordinary goalie. Except if he plays against Switzerland. Then he looks like the second coming of Hasek.

At least we won't get relegated. These guys just flat out suck.

HAHA ! refs were swiss 6 and 7th player how many stupid penalties they gave?

Just because you don't know the rules doesn't mean the penalties are not justified. You have issues...

Congrats to the Latvian team and (most) of their fans...
