Masalkis is such an ordinary goalie. Except if he plays against Switzerland. Then he looks like the second coming of Hasek.

At least we won't get relegated. These guys just flat out suck.

I know exactly how you feel :D We have already made stars out of Galbraith and Lalande.

That 2-on-2 was so beautiful some people even shed a tear in the audience.

Good game and good luck to the Swiss against the top teams - you won't get any points by scoring 1 goal against them.

It's our own fault that we're incapable of scoring...

Congraz to Latvia, a team that misses that many chances does not deserve to win.

Great defensive effort by Latvia and Masalskis was great as well. Where was all of that when he was playing in Ambri?

He had some amazing games! I am a seasonticket holder in Ambri... so I know what I am talking about. ;)

Now lets see how IIHF guy who writes "power rankings" recovers after calling Masalkis an 80`s goalie. :naughty:

I say let Swiss worry about their points, we worry about ours.
Clearly we were lucky today, still our game is not as it should be, even with this roster... glad we had Masalskis playing amazing in the net. And, of course, DaugaviņÅ¡ and DārziņÅ¡ are way above the other guys on the team... glad we have them and 2 on 2 at the end shows that

Germany, Austria and France are not weak opponents and games will not be easier than this vs the Swiss, so everything is still ahead for us.

I remember him having some rather poor games as well. But I guess you would know better than me. I was just under the impression that he had not done all that well overall while playing for Ambri

Ok, now I can properly apologize!

Sorry guys I was really mad after that goal!

Good luck in the tournament and don't take it personaly :shakehead

Yeah, no. The games against Germany/Austria/France are definitely going to be easier, they're on a tier below Switzerland.

Would you apologize as well if your team would have lost? ;)

No worries, we all know how emotions can take over...

Not sure who this colour commentator is alongside Gord Miller, but he is soooo biased in favour of the Swiss. It's disgusting.

Rod Black back in the studio made up for it by saying Latvia had the best fans of any team. But yeah the colour guy said "too bad" after the winning goal as he was clearly cheering for Switzerland.

So I guess he was Shawn Simpson, former Swiss national team head coach. That would explain the bias.

No offense, but this is what you Swiss deserved after U18 Lat-Swi game.

Care to explain?

Because you lost? Because you may have gotten an unfair penalty against you? Can't remember that the game was unfair or that anything particular happened...

I wouldn't say that, if I were you. Austria beat SUI. Germany has never been easy to play against. And France is progressing too fast for comfort.

I'm surprised about Switzerland, but **** happens. In my eyes they are "little Canada" of European hockey.

Why would you even bother to respond to such a silly posts?

Well, yes. But this is kinda what you're supposed to say, every opponent is difficult blah blah blah
And, well, Masalskis is prone to at least one sucky game every tournament lately... so you never know. Maybe his was the second half vs Sweden, but then again... you never know

Have you actually seen their games? They're clearly worse than Switzerland in most respects.

It doesn't mean that we're necessarily going to get 3 wins, it just means that we obviously have better chances going into those games when compared to the Swiss game.

Germany was especially awful in their first couple of games. They legit looked like a Div I team at times.
