They are both good players, but probably the worst forwards that Russia dressed today (on paper. I thought the Kulemin-Malkin-Mozyakin line was the worst today). Tarasenko is a world-class superstar, full-stop. Shirokov is not in his league. The only payer on that Russian roster who I would pick over him would be a healthy Malkin.

Russia needs some new line rotations, the current lines make no sense to be honest. Why on earth is a 35+ goal scorer on the 4th line with Tikhonov and Shirokov? You could have a amazing line with Malkin, Kovalchuk and Tarasenko, but you put Tarasenko on the 4th and Kovy on the 3rd. Panarin-Shipachyov-Dadanov line is the only solid line Russia has right now

Russia needed a goal, Tarasenko gives the team a higher percentage chance of that happening with the likes of Malkin and Kovalchuk as linemates.

We all want to see it (Tarasenko-Malkin line). Will be interesting to see if Znarok will do it. He has to change something, it's clear the line combos aren't working, outside of the Panarin line.

He's made several baffling choices over these last two games, wouldn't be surprised if he continues to **** up instead of righting the ship.

He looked good today as he has all tournament. I was worried about his defense at this level but he's been strong. I imagine his tournament so far has done nothing but increase his demand, although I too hope he signs with CBJ.
