Russia's team is always loaded with talent but they easily have the worst coaching out of any top team in the world. The absolute worst. It's sad really and they're not good at making adjustments on the fly.

If Babcock coached Russia, they'd easily be the second best team in the world.

Right now it's:

Canada

Sweden
USA
Finland

Russia

Couldn't agree more.
I don't know why, but Russian coaches rarely adapt, or make adjustments on the fly. It's as if they value principal over winning.
A "if the game plan doesn't work, stick with it until it does" coaching mentality won't get a team very far.
Props to our players, we played well today; but Russia should've destroyed us.

no, it is stupid for him to attend if injured...

I believe the Olympics are more important than the NHL.

the pens pay his pay cheque and have invested money in him. If injured, he should focus on recovering first.
in my opinion, if he's already won this tournament before, he should sit out.
Although I'm Canadian, but as long as the olympics are best on best, its significance is definitely more important than the NHL.
if NHL players cease to go though, that will change. before 1998, how many people actually followed the albertville and lillehammer games?

Unless the Pens have a valid contractual issue that he is bound to, it is none of their business what he does in his free time. If he places as high a priority on representing his country as he does playing for the Pens, and they don't like it, they should trade him. Good luck in finding an adequate straight up trade for Malkin!

How did Russia lose to THAT lineup? Good god that is ugly. Wouldn't it be hilarious if they won it all?

It might be hilarious if Team USA won it all, but based on the way they played yesterday, its not out of the question. Sometimes teamwork and a system can overcome star power!
