My questision is inspired by some Russian posters here who claimed that if Russia wins, some russian famous ice hockey person (Tretyak? I dont remember) then claims that Russia is best and everything is fine in Russian hockey. Your answer would claim otherwise.

Im sorry for Oleg's throat been sore... It's funny how russians (media etc.) always complain about these kinda situations. Like that suspension wouldn't be right.

Bobrovsky has not been tested yet like Rinne has. Rinne's been the best goalie in this tournament with Bobrovsky so it's gonna be tight.

GOLD is the only thing what matters now. Lets Go SUOMI!:handclap::yo:

I will gladly give props to Russian team and I'm happy with this Finnish performance already, given that team. Seems like you did take my post offensively somehow, which wasnt my intention.

I just don't understand what connection have Sochi to all this? When we've lost there I was sad about 10 minutes, then I went to sleep and the next day my interest have been switch out of international hockey until this WHC. I don't need any consolations at all. I want my team win this tournament. If they do that I would be having very good feelings today. Not because this win proves anything, but because it's win by my favorite team. If they lose, I would be sad. But win or lose, tomorrow it all will be just history for me. I'll switch to FIFA WC. First appearance in twelve years is a big deal.

In fact some Russian posters did start talking about this (for example "I dont care if they win whc after olympics" etc), so just wanted to get larger perspective on that. Also that Tretyak thing, so how big thing WHC win would be for Russian fans and how it relates to olympics.

But maybe it did sound little bit offensive which wasnt what I was trying to do, so sorry for that.

Good luck there. Should be great event. We have hard time in couple months when European championship qualifying starts.

God luck to you too. Now that Euro have been expanded to 24 teams Finland have a very good chance to make finals.

Yo, Znaroks!

You ain't rappin' back in the hood bro' - so cut those signes please!

Look at stone cold ice face Erkka Westerlund instead - he wouldn't even move a grin on his face if somebody tried to jump on him.
Hard as a Finland rock.

Cool hairdo by the way Znaroks, very 2000-style ...

I call it a Sergei-hair. It's a typical russian hair style. I'm pretty sure that over 90% of the russian males have that type of hair.

Might actually be true. I've seen it on some of the local Russians and the few Russian tourists that pass through here.

Mens hair? Seriously? Do Europeans give a **** about that?:amazed: I usually just cut them all with head shaver and forget about it for next half a year.

The Russians have already started their party. We'll see who's celebrating after the match.

Want Russia to win so they convince themselves all remains well with their hockey program.

One sign that the Russian hockey program isn't dead - they play for the World Championship in a few hours.

I hope we win tonight, but anyone who has been paying attention the last decade knows that Finland is one of the top 3 hockey nations, and has frequently beaten Russia of late. But pessimistic predictions about the state of Russian hockey are far from warranted. Remember, Russia is one of 2 hockey powers that are capable of greatly expanding their hockey talent base (the other being the United States), and the money and resources that Russia has devoted to creating junior leagues and expanding pro leagues has the potential to achieve major results that will likely first be reflected in the WC's.

I love Ovi and Malkin for consistently dragging their beaten-up bodies to play in the WC's every year that its possible, but so far, it has been no-name guys like Tikhonov, Plotnikov, Burmistrov, Dadonov, and so on who have led this team to the GM game. I hope Ovi and Malkin show why they make a difference tonight. I disagree with those, many of whom have "gone home," so to speak, who say Russian hockey is in bad shape! Since when is playing for Gold bad.

No men care - but women do, ya see!

Seriously we care a lot about beer amore - Lapin Kulta (Laponia Gold!) for me this time around.

For joy - or for sorrow!
