Those stats are absolute trash, about as usefull as toilet paper. They say Bj's 1st goal, the Justin Danforth goal should only go in 16/100? Lmao. Closer to 96/100. Like, how can anyone see that and defend them?

I respect you as a poster, having interacted with you enough, you know puck. I do believe a lot of this is kinda your shtick, (like edjovanosvki when it comes to certain players) partiuclarly with Igor but with goaltending as a whole.
I do think, to varying extents, these sites underrate scoring chances. These models were developed during the Dead Puck Era, and by and large, xG haven't entirely kept up with actual league scoring going up the past few years.

That being said, you're massively overcorrecting. 16% is a pretty good chance. It might be closer to 25% given what I just said, which is an amazing chance.

The goaltender was still playing his position on that play. The majority of the time, a shot like that hits the goalie or misses the net.

The worst chance you can face as a goalie is a 2 on 0. Do 2 on 0 chances go in 96% of the time?

I like how the caps went from a team in no mans land to a top team after they got rid of obese pete but here we are f***ing ourselves with the same retread. The Fat Boys Club mentality needs to change. We can’t bring in retirement prone coaches because of their legacy just to be an enabler. How does anyone have any respect for a leader when they’re this unfit? I don’t care if you’re a manager at a CVS, you have to show up looking regal and behave like a classy person. Generous, tolerant, doesn’t hold grudges. I personally judge every friend and coworker when I see them stuff themselves full of food at a buffet or when they order food delivery for themselves at their own house gathering and it’s a main course and two full appetizers. You lose respect watching a fat person warfph down a pad thai, a chicken thai red curry and two spring rolls that aren’t even thai and then try to explain the meal as cheaper because you ordered more per delivery. We need to bring in someone dignified and inspires confidence and demands respect with their presence. Someone who doesn’t eat fried foods and instead grabs an omelette at the omelette station and eats it with a yogurt and black coffee and pretend it satisfied them. Someone who has the self control and self care of their image to not purposefully walk by the boxes of pastries on the table and pretend like they barely saw the pastries in the corner of their eye while they walked past them and decided to have one even though they helped themselves to one 5 minutes ago and knew full well what they were doing walking pass the table.
So in the Simpsons NHL version, hire Frank Grimes not Homer Simpson?

And as I said in another thread. There are only so many guys like Stralman out there. We haven't really had one since Stralman and it's more to do with the how few defensemen play like that than because of how shitty our FO is.
The defense is not good. You don't move out bad to replace with more bad. The goal is to get better. Borgen has been fine but Vaak, DeHaan and Soucey aren't the answer.
I think I would give Saucey a pass after only 2 games in a D that has no structure. Jones is not an NHL player.

The team just blows and it's a tough pill to swallow because of their record last year. Mostly everyone has regressed. Cuylle and Rempe are probably the only guys who look better this year than last.
I suspect if we had the same players on our team this year as we did last year (including Trouba and Goodrow) we would probably be in 2nd place in the Metro. A big reason for the roster changes were so we could pay Laf, Shesty, K. Miller, etc. I think it would have been better to wait a year to make changes, with more data available as to who stays and who goes, and the emotional fallout for the team would have been less. And it is not hindsight. I felt this way all along.

I’m just saying…. Since Kreider has been back it’s been more of the same.

We played different without him

I agree. It's like he takes over the team when he gets there or something. This is another fail by Drury, why would you talk about trading him early in the year and still have him on the roster now...really dumb.

all we need is one of the greatest goalies of all time and the best player in franchise history and we'd have a couple more wins?

2 decades of Hank has given this fanbase brainrot when it comes to what goalies are supposed to look like.

My sincerest apologies for calling out the highest paid goalie of all time for playing like horse shit most of the season. My bad. I'm an asshole who has unrealistic expectations. 🤡

Just look at the state of the front of this team's net since Adam Fox went down.

He's good at defense and I'm tired of even having to say that.
He sucks.if you don't knock guys on their ass,you can't defend... something.... something... rabble.....rabble...grunt...grunt...

People will look at the litany of awful moves Drury has made and then say "Yeah, but look how cheap he got JT," when only wanted to come here, or "But he put Goodrow on waivers!" who he gave a ridiculous contract to in the first place.

This is a take from some clown NYR fan (me) who thought this team can get it together and make a little run.

This is one of the worst seasons in a long time. Since the summer time, there has been nothing but drama and weird shit surrounding this team and it carried over into the season. After Florida demolished us, i thought maybe we would use that and learn from it. We failed miserably and the team fell apart right in front of our eyes. President's Trophy last season and absolute dogshit this season.

Do you blame the coach? Players? I think a huge part of this is how bad we have drafted. At some point, you need to get something from your top picks. Lias, Kravstov, Kakko, Lafreniere, all not good enough and it set us back. We are the only team that gets a #2 and then a #1 overall and then we throw them in the bottom 6. Instead of handing them the keys, we groom them to be bottom 6ers and then wonder why they suck. Wtf?

I didn't like the Igor extension because goalies are a joke. Extending Laf was weird because he's just not that good imo.

All in all, i think we all saw this coming. It's basically a rerun of the Hank years, only difference is we have a Fox and some centers who put up points but big deal. At least we made a cup with Hank and that series was over in the blink of an eye. We are always a defenseman short, or a forward, or a physical bottom 6 presence, not enough puck moving defensemen, we always have an issue with the depth.

The issue is drafting. I don't care what other winning teams do, WE need to hit on top 10 picks when we get the chance. Eventually, it comes back to bite you.

Also, i have nothing against the guy but can we stop playing Brodzinski? Every game the guy is in the lineup, can we give a young guy a shot?

To end this off, what is this team? Drury gets rid of older guys but then trades a 1st to bring in JT Miller who i love but then you have a defense like we do so it kind of ruins the Miller acquisition. Is the plan really to hitch our wagons to an older center core? I don't count Mika as a center anymore but we have Trocheck and JT, they aren't super old but they are early 30s and we don't exactly have amazing wingers to play with them. What's the plan here? It just seems like a bunch of random shit being thrown at the wall. Drury wants to get bigger and more physical, that's great. Does he know how to? Drury should have moved more guys at the deadline because this team showed who they really are last night.

And before you do anything with the defense, fire Housley asap

That one guy used to always tell us how the winning wasn't sustainable. Well, this season it finally wasn't. This is who we are without a top PP and the best goalie in the league. We always wondered and it is ugly AF.

Maybe this is better off in the Roster Building thread but to piggy back off the new guys post, I do wonder what Pizza Boy's plan at C is. Even if you move Mika back, that's 3 centers all over 30 moving towards the twilight of their career. There is no one in the pipeline that we can remotely even hope to be on their level coming up. Not much left to trade for any either. McDavid is not likely, Eichel? Okay. Still gonna be 30 sooner than later with his contract and then you still need 2 more sooner than later. It's hard to be overly optimistic with the direction we're heading in.

I appreciate the response but we're simply never gonna agree on this.

This chance (once the pass got made successfully over and shot got off, which is what xg accoutns for) is more dangerous than a 2on0 where guys often slow down to each other's pace and telegraph passes back and forth between each other and hte goalie can see everything in front of him.

But I digress
