Video: Beef between Znarok & Grönborg

Gronborg was the Swedish Junior Coach who practically caused a riot in the Semi-Final match against Russian in the WJC. Ray Ferraro of TSN was all over him for being a "whiner" and an "instigator," strongly implying that it was Gronborg himself who caused the riot. Gronborg was trying to get a fight going with the Russian bench in the WJC, but I'll bet he didn't accept Znarok's invitation to meet him outside. Gronborg looks like a ***** to me, and I'm certain that Znarok would grind him up in small pieces.

Here are the Plotnikov gifs via @myregularface:

haha, what an embarrassment. How do you live with yourself as a man after doing something like that? Get on your feet you baby.

Everyone dives, but Russians are the ones with no scruples. They don't even try to make it look real, their dives are so blatant.

The replay shows that he just missed Plotnikov's jaw, but how is that not a penalty in any league or on any continent? It is interference and roughing rolled up into one. He knew they were going to lose, so he decided to make a Canadian play on his way to the bench. That should be penalized. The Russian bench clearly thought that Gronborg instructed him to do it, and they are no doubt 100% correct, given Gronborg's MO.

I wish some posters would actually open their eyes and view threads like this and other always plentiful examples of foolishness such as the U.S -Swiss game thread when their team loses before they start in with their tired and ridiculous "only Canadian fans do............"

I can't believe people are so blind to the reality of fans from all over and spew the garbage they always do abut only Team X fans act a certain way.

I may be a homer for my team but at least I have the sense to know how some of all fan bases act.

Don't bring logic into this thread.

Congratulations Russia.

Which coach won for best acting performance? By the use of hands, they would dominate Italian Theater.

Sports just bring out the worst in people.:shakehead Why are even all the non-Russian and non-swedish hockey fans here bickering?

3-1 to Russia is a fair and expected result. They have a close to Olympic squad against a Swedish SHL roster. Winning against them would be considered a big, but not impossible accomplishment.

Plotnikov did not return to ice and was also missing from the closing ceremonies of the game.

No. From current team only Malkin, Ovechkin, Kulemin, Anisimov, Bobrovsky and Medvedev played in the Olympics. That is not "close to Olympic squad".

I wouldn't have started bickering if Russians and Swedes didn't bring up Canada into their arguments. But of course, always drag Canada in your wars.

I'm still mad I missed out on that because stupid NBC is tape delaying this. Unbelievable.

Also, how did the Russian team do this well in the IIHF but not in the Olympics?
This is easy to answer, roster. Russia has few refusals from the stars whilst other teams have a much harder time attracting players, especially North American teams. At the Olympics, everyone wants to be part of the Olympic national team so every team gets their best except for the few injured players. Russia simply gets tougher adversities at the Olympics.

Wow what a disgusting display making threats on live TV. As if russians needed more fuel to their look-bad fire.
Wonder if that coach realize how much damage he caused to any international hockey relations. It sure didn't help his precious khl:shakehead

Also, the coach exchange:

I don't see what all the fuzz is about.

This is obviously all a big misunderstanding.

This was simply an exchange between two movie buff's discussing their favourite films.

With the arena beeing so loud Grönborg was forced to shout, asking Znaroks "What's your favourite movie?"

Znarok didn't even bother to shout so he used sign language instead. His favourite movie is of course Renny Harlin's "Cutthroat Island"

This !

i dont understand why everyone talks about a Russian dream team while this team now has 4 players and Bob in goal from NHL and the rest is from KHL. ( Kutznetskov is now only reserve)

This is and KHL team with some few players from NHL
Thats the fact - not taking anything away from this team but some writers make it looks like the Russian has sendt their best players to this tournament which on paper is far from the truth.

Having said that i am very very pleased with this russian team and even if they could put 13/ 14 new players here ( to name a few Datsyuk , Kowalthuk, Semin, Radulov, Voinov, Moysakin, Nikitin, Tjutin, Nicholiskin, Tarasenkov...)

My friend thinks the Russia should from now on rely on the players from KHL and only use the best of the best from NHL - its not always about getting the best players but you want to have the best team.

As always Russia is their own biggest enemy - playing like a team they will beat everyone. Lets hope for a team game tomorow.

Question - why is not Nichuskin ( Dallas - Russis biggest talent my god this kid gonne be good and what about his skating?? 18 years old.. ) here ?

Tarasenkov was hurt if i understand it correct )

The future is brigh for Russia :)

Maybe you need to watch an episode where Plotnikov injured from the beginning? No?

Everybody's piling on Znarok, but what the Swedes did is much worse.

Russians are easy targets as usual.

I thought someone was murdered in game, but all i could see was a small push from a frustrated player. Stupid and idiotic play? Yes... Huge dirty hit? Hell no!

Name of that "small push" - meanness. Frustrated player - its his trouble.

ok?

Him being frustrated doesn't magnify the force of a small push 1000 times like you'd think by the way that player went down.
