4. If an attacking player stands or holds his stick in the goal crease when the puck
enters the goal net, unless he has been physically interfered with, by the action
of any defending player so as to cause him to be in the goal crease when the puck
enters the goal net, unless if in the opinion of the Referee, he had sufficient time
to get out of the crease or unless Rule 470 applies.

check rules first
when the puck was entering the net his skates were clearly in the crease

that's from iihf
section 4

So the IIHF rules were honored and all the complains are coming out of ignorance. Belarus beat Latvia on the ice and in jurisprudence. Good day I guess.

Last I checked, running an opposing goalie isn't a legal play.

Unless you're last name is Kreider, maybe. :P

If you opened your eyes you could have seen that Belarusian player was pushed into Masalskis by Latvian defenseman.

That was the biggest robbery I have ever seen in my life. What's the point of playing the game, if perfectly legal goals is gonna be waved off?!

Kreider was tripped, at that point he was basically a passenger...

We scored 5 on 3, someone already told you.

And if you wanna talk so much about playing right, and deserving the win. How about your team playing only one period and then sitting in their own zone? If we do that in the first period we don't deserve the win, if you do that in 2nd and 3rd, you do. Great logic.
What? I told it my self. The only way you were able to score was 5 on 3 situation. Blame your special tams for not being able to score anything even 5 on 4.
You've never seen a teams sitting back after they get 2 goals lead? Belarus sat back, but still created as many scoring opportunities as Latvians.

All latvia needs to do is beat Switzerland. and way Swiss are playing that is very much doable.

Can they suspend Daugavins for what he did?

They should. That was a clear head shot. And those refs gave him only 2 minutes for that. Basically Latvians got away with a borderline murder there, Belarusians probably should complain about it.

That is true, but if Latvia fails to win, then Finland get in, and I suspect the IIHF would rather see Finns represented there, just from the marketing standpoint. Time to don my tinfoil hat in expectations of another ref smash-and-grab job.

Then again, it's just as likely that Latvia will be so flat after this disappointment, that the rested Swiss will just roll over them.

Oh, my! You're hilarious, dude!:laugh::laugh::sarcasm:

first of all i would say that it was bad game for us, really

i've even somewhat enjoyed how the latvians started to play with a lot of emotions and heart, i've felt in the second period that we're losing it
every minute, every mistake in our zone was frightening, so lucky that opponent didn't convert these chances

then we've parked inside our blue line, it was hard to watch, but with the pressure it seemed that it was the only way we could win it

then it was denisov who turned me to believe that there will be an equalizer

and it was

and then it was the biggest luck since 2002

we were a blade away from being left without qf, really

but still, latvia outplayed us in many departments and i strongly respect them, feels bad, i know, though up to 10 mil people are happy now, it is what it is

still no love for masalskis though :D
