Holy moly! Didn't even look there.
USA's (supposed) starter is an AHL guy, and not even one of the top ones. The backup is an university player.

Of course, anybody can play lights out when warmed up enough, but you certainly can't blame anyone for thinking that those guys are out of their depth.

Sweet lines, welcome noobs for the Donskoi-show!

Interesting to see how are our stars Kontiola and Aaltonen this year. Both had not so good seasons

I hope that if Kontiola doesn't show up, Aaltonen moves up to Barkov and Kemppainen plays with Donskoi. Kemppainen and Donskoi are good players on their own but together they are really, really interesting.

Im expecting a tight game, Usa got speedy forwards that can cause a mess. And if Moses plays a good game he will be hard to stop. But i guess Finland is the favourite after all, a role that does not fit us good. Anyways 4-2 win Finland

They just confirmed this lineup. Komarov, who was supposed to play where Hartikainen does, was sidelined due to an undisclosed injury.

is this really confirmed line up vs USA? if so,were so screwed.
can't be. i think its old news,Komarov skated in the "morning skate".

Kontiola in first line with Aaltonen  .

Louhivaara??? :shakehead

Jasse Pesonen playing 4th line  .

these lines have zero chemistry, zero physicality
zero nothing.

my ones:

now when Komarov gets healthy, he should be first line with
Barkov and maybe with Hartikainen.

Pesonen should play with Immonen and Ruutu
(chemistry +++)
2nd line

Jokinen should play with Kemppainen and Donskoi
(JJJ) (oulu+oulu+oulu) (chemistry ++)
3rd line

Pihlström obviously in 4th,stamp Hytönen and him center
the 4th line and fill the rw spot with someone

and throw kontiola and aaltonen **** out
from the line up.

all those lines are carefully thought so they'd be balanced
to have a bit of everything in all lines, have speed
strength and physicality with scoring touch, with plenty
of chemistry.

What that other Jalonen has done
is just dumb ass combinations with zero serious thought,
i mean why the hell separate kemppainen and donskoi,
why not put together the line Pesonen-Immonen-Ruutu
line that has served us well, many times before.

Yeah, it's confirmed alright.

Still sticking to your own machinations, huh? So... how exactly is that alternate reality you've been living on since January working out for ya?

Those lines don't have zero physicality. Also Konna-Aaltonen chemistry seems to be real deal. Kontiola looks like a star with Aaltonen.

Size is spread pretty nice / evenly with the lines. 4th line doesn't include defenders, others do:

Averages of lines:
1. line

Keski-ikä 30.0 vuotta
Pituus 182.6 cm
Paino 89.2 kg

2. line

Keski-ikä 24.8 vuotta
Pituus 185.2 cm
Paino 88.4 kg

3. line

Keski-ikä 29.0 vuotta
Pituus 184.2 cm
Paino 90.4 kg

4. line

Keski-ikä 30.0 vuotta
Pituus 185.3 cm
Paino 88.7 kg

Any line isn't too small. There is always two big players on ice or more. 1st line being little exception, but Aaltonen and Kontiola / Ruutu aren't small or weak boys. Should've took risto in, adding size to 1st line. Hietanen isn't really ever bringing the offense he is advertised about.

USA's hit or miss with this type of team. In theory they have youth, speed, skill. But at the same time they lack most elements that make a good international tournament team.

Not sure if you know anything about Hellebuyck or not. He's obviously no Rinne, but he was one of the top AHL goalies last year as a rookie.

One non Ice Cap Media member has him as not only the top goalie, but the league MVP.

Kontiola yeah, but Aaltonen was "only" Jokerit's third most effective forward with around 0.75ppg, so I don't really see what's "not-so-good" about that. It wasn't superb, but sure as hell not something you'd call bad or even subpar.

Decent amount of points but sometimes he just completely disappeared and surfed around the ice. If he could remove that surf mode he could be a top 6 guy in some NHL team that needs wingers. When he's on top of his game he is just magical.

U.S. lineup:

Nelson-Bonino-Moses
Lee-Arcobello-Morin
Vesey-Eichel-Lewis
Hendricks-Smith-Sexton
Larkin

Krug-Faulk
Reilly-Jones
Moore-Murphy
Gardiner

Hellebuyck
Campbell

For what it's worth, I was emulating the thoughts of other people calling him bad.

I admit, I don't know much about the guy myself, but if he's deemed good enough to start for USA, he can't be completely sucky.

Not sure I'd consider Finland the clear favourite here. If I take off my homer glasses, that line-up doesn't look like much to write home about. Of course, the game is played on ice, not on paper.

USA forwards are....special. I'd be surprised if they lost by less than three.
