Yeah, what a shame to be told I don't want to play for your team

There is no evidence or indication that happened with any team other than Arizona.

We do know he met with Philadelphia prior to the draft and the 2 sides expressed mutual interest. This was after it became "consensus" that Bedard, Fantilli, and Carlsson would likely go in the Top 3. He may have looked at the teams beyond the Top 3 and eyed the Flyers as the best fit, we don't know for sure.

I'm not sure who will be the best player from that draft, but I always thought Michkov was always the better player than Bedard

Michkov is in a different league than all of them and this has been said since the moment he was drafted. Comfortably the best young player we have had since Lindros.

I have spent over 15 years having HFFlyers tell me to get my hopes up and pretending dime a dozen guys are the one. From Lindblom, to Ghost, to Hart, to Patrick, to Provorv, to Sanheim, to Frost, all the way back to my very first instance of HFFlyers insisting a guy was legit with Nodl or Parent were building blocks.
Michikov is the one.

I mean more that something unforseen will inevitably happen to him. He'll develop a severe fear of large crowds and get traded to Winnipeg.

truly one of the most atrocious stretches in a draft by GMs in recent memory. those teams f***ed up even worse than the bruins in 2015. Michkov was the obvious 100% consensus 2nd best player in the draft, and even had some arguments to go over Bedard (which of course was never gonna happen though). there is no excuse for passing on him and those GMs should be fired for that alone.
I have great news for you about one of them.

Haven’t had the opportunity to watch him play yet, does he really look that good?

He looks raw as an overall player but he's a brilliant offensive mind that can look absent for 90% of his minutes and still put up 3 points in a game. He makes something out of nothing in a blink. Stong on the boards, is trying to buy in to Tortsism (he's already blocked like 3-4 shots this season). Has immense skill, but mostly manufactures opportunities for linemates via patience and vision or works his way to the slot for his own shots/jam plays.

Some growing pains. Has had trouble handling some hard passes from teammates, think he's adjusting somewhat to the idea that everyone in the NHL whips it like he can. Defensive IQ isn't quite developed. He kinda wandered out of the picture on the Oilers OT goal last night assuming Konecny had the puck when he...didn't. But he's smart and I think he'll figure it out.

Main problem right now is finding the right linemates. Their center depth is a shitshow so Michkov has seen a number of combinations. Couturier is an absolute shell of himself and that hasn't worked. Frost has the IQ to play with him but Torts is iffy on Frost and seems slow to commit to them as a duo. Luchanko is an 18 year old mystery box who may or may not be back in juniors in a few weeks. That's before they get into who plays left wing--the Flyers only have one real one (Farabee) but that's another guy Torts does not seem to trust. Otherwise, braindead triggermen playing their offwing (Tippett, Konecny) or perhaps Foerster. They've tried it all. Once there's some stability there, I think we'll better understand just what to expect nightly.
