Reminds me of the summer the Sabres lost Briere and Drury in UFA. It was devastating. Feel bad for Flames fans but atleast you might get some assets back For Tkachuk.

I see the Covid restriction stuff, but I don't see it impacting the Jays which has even more vocal people within the sport (just look at the Royals roster this weekend). Robbie Ray wanted to stay, but Gausman took the offer first, who were the two of the three biggest UFA pitchers last year, and they weren't giving Seiman that deal.

I think for some guys its a non-issue, but not the case for everyone.

FUNNY. I saw the snippet if this thread title and immediately thought, Matthews (as in Austin) “on the move”. With the wave of US born players leaving for US cities I guess my mind just went to him leaving.

Pass on the Debrincat for M. Tkachuk.

Debrincat brings a lethal finisher the Sens we’re lacking and fits so well with Stützle and Giroux on paper.

Adding Matthew would be insane but there simply isn’t any fit under the cap or lineup.

If Matt really wants to play with his brother. He takes the one year, regardless of if it’s in Calgary or a team he’s traded too. Wait until next summer and see what Ottawa does then. Signs as a UFA. A lot has to go right for Ottawa for that to happen.

For it to happen now, Zaitsev has to be included, +Batherson, +Grieg, +JBD, +’23 Ott 1st. Even then Ottawa adds and I don’t think it happens.

Francis brought that up in an interview today. As well as the JT Miller situation.

It does make sense for American players to want to play closer to home. It has become a nightmare to travel in Canada.

Francis even brought up a point about Canadian GM's possibly avoiding American born players in the draft.

It is something to think about if the trend continues

Three way trade

To Boston: Kreider (waives NMC for hometown club)

To NYR: Tkachuk

To Calgary: Debrusk, Kakko, Lundkvist, Bos 1st

Probably a bit more in prospects or picks to Calgary from Boston’s side.

Why? Because I want Tkachuk on the Rangers. That’s all. Get in there Drury!

32 thoughts is just that. Speculation and Freidman pushing his own opinion. Same with Seravelli.

If it was so widely reported, surely you could provide a source
I just provided 3 sources. Likely the 2 most connected insiders in hockey and multiple guys connected to the Flames. Not sure what more you could possibly ask for.

This seems shortsighted.

No you didn’t. You referenced speculative or opinion pieces. I know exactly what you’re talking about and none of those sources actually stated the Devils offered the 2OA. Not that it really matters and it’s silly we’re still talking about this.

Way too much has been made of that. It's just part of a fantasy that he just needs to be in Toronto. He shows his emotion on the ice and isn't that expressive off the ice.

I do think it is possible McDavid leaves one day but his draft reaction isn't a good insight. He likely stays if the team continues to be more competitive

A big worry for me is if Canada continues these covid restrictions. McDavid or Drai could leave over that, and it wont be to Toronto

With rumours of Tkachuk on the move. I've come up with a Blockbuster trade similar to one Burke made with Phaneuf trade.

Calgary

Marner
Reilly

Toronto

Tkachuk
Andersson

Flames get a replacement for Johnny Hockey. Leafs a thoughess for the playoffs. Who says no?

Tkachuk for Lafreniere and a 1st. Why would the NYR trade Kreider after he just scored 50 goals?
