Well since you asked...

 • Gold medal U-17 Hockey Challenge
 • Gold medal U-18 IIHF World Hockey Championship
 • Bronze medal U-20 IIHF World Hockey Championship (scored 11 points to share the lead with Auston Mathews in American team scoring)
 • Memorial Cup winner
 • Hasn't won any awards or trophies in the NHL yet but neither has Elias Pettersson.
Last point is wrong, Petey won the Calder. As Nucklehead says, you can keep Tkatchuk. We don't want him or his future $10 Million contract.

Calgary gets hosed here, no way they do this trade.

I am not a fan of either team. Just stating the obvious.

He missed 30 games (more than the last half of the season) because of a wrist injury on March 1 2021... He hasn't been fine for a long time. For all anyone knows, he still has wrist problems. Or it could be mental problems. Whatever it is.... its painfully obvious to everyone that something is wrong with him.

Well then why do you want him and why give up one of your best players for him then?

Like it at first, but Calgary isn't as desperate for top 6 centers as people think. Lindholm is solid, but not top tier at #1. Johnny does and excels at a lot of the playmaking and possession work, so he doesn't need a top tier center.

Backlund and Monahan are great depth at #2/3.

Why mess with a good thing. Tkachuk's craziness will come in handy during the playoffs.

I see why the Canucks say no, although they could move Miller to centre. Miller and Tkachuk would make a killer combo.

This is a bad trade for Vancouver and they would be stupid to make it. I'm sorry that appears to upset a few Flames fans in here, but it's the truth.

EP having a tough year isn't a reason to give up on a guy that looked like a franchise C in his first two years in the NHL. Vancouver will live or die with him until he requests a trade or leaves as FA.

Maybe to make room for Gau dreau and Mangiapane and Kylington's new contracts next season? Probably won't be able to afford all those and Tkachuk too next year

Unless we can move out one of Monahan or Lucic we definitely can't afford everyone. Letting go of Zadorov and Pitlick frees up 5.5M. Gotta replace both with minimum players so there's 4M in space. Last year of Brouwer buyout is another 1.5M. We have a total of 5.5M. We will have 7-9M in raises to handout. One of Monahan or Lucic has to go unless Tkachuk is traded.

Monahan likely needs an asset attached. Lucic makes 1M in real dollars. Lots of budget teams would be interested, but he has a full NMC. Why would he waive for Ottawa, Phoenix ect.?

Trade based on the assumption that Tkachuk will have agreed to a long term contract extension acceptable to the Canucks. Assume said extension will be in the $9-10m AAV range for 7 or 8 years.
Lol good one. Canucks obviously decline.

And what do you expect when you say... No thanks. We're great on wingers already? No you're not. The Canucks are a dumpster fire with no compete level and the team needs a serious shake up.
EP is playing like shit and if you think someone is going to trade an elite center for him... dream on. Tkachuk is a franchise player who absolutely hates to lose and if anyone can make a difference to the losing culture on the Canucks its him
Pettersson is so much better than Tkachuk it's not even funny. A 20 game bad start to the season doesn't change that. If Tkachuk were ever as good as EP (he never, EVER will be), you wouldn't be willing to make this trade.

Vancouver should pass on this. Just because they should've taken him over Juolevi, doesn't mean they need to make a huge mistake to fix that one.
Good thing development isn't......you know.... linear....

When has anyone said we have to get an elite center? Most of us aren't stupid enough to believe that this bad stretch isn't some sort of development anomaly given you know, that he has shown what he can do and won a calder because of it.

You made a post and Canucks fans are saying no and now your throwing a temper tantrum, relax bud.
actually i fully agree with the bolded.

just the tune out of vancouver was a completely different one in ep's rookie season.

no sympathy for the devils.

I’m worried Canucks do something stupid and trade Pettersson. McKinnon also had a couple of down years after his fantastic rookie season. He wasn’t even injured like Pettersson was last season. I would be patient with this one. I know many fans are down on him right now but it would be a mistake to give up on a potential franchise center.
