Was guessing 5 games, no issue with 4.

If it was a basic illegal check to the head with a shoulder and no injury like the Parker Kelley hit on Englund it would have been a default 2 game suspension.

Factor in:
a) Rempe's hit was with an extended elbow, not a shoulder, and
b) Siegenthaler was injured

The typical default for a player with no suspension history becomes 4-5 games.

I too commonly flare my elbow up towards a person's head when I'm about to run into them.
Like wouldn't pushing your elbows outwards potentially hurt more when going into the boards? it would be the principle point of contact.

4 games for Rasmus Andersson for elbowing Laine to the head in October, first time offense

guess this one makes sense as well in the above context.

Not enough time to react to them stopping and pulling their head back to make the decision to flare out your elbow and also to act on it...

I'm sorta surprised how quick reaction times people seem to have, Rempe wasn't even looking at the guy's head.

That was just a hit with which he attempted to level the guy against the boards, but then Siegenthaler braked and pulled his upper body back so Rempe missed.

Fair enough.

Now he’s challenged to maintain the physicality without crossing the line so much. Hope he figures it out right away

I would have given him 4 games without a prior incident, I would have tacked on an extra since he had the prior match penalty (which somehow he didn't get even an additional fine for) with a warning that the next incident would be well over 6+ games.

I honestly though the Do"PS" wouldn't go over 2 games.

I obviously didn't read through the prior 31 pages to see if anyone was going to defend Rempe, but I knew given enough time someone would.

The hit was shit and stupid given the situation. Giving a shit team a 5 min PP when they're dead in the water and just looking to get through the season was inexcusable. Good thing for the Rangers that the Devils suck enough ass that they did nothing with the PP.

People calling for 5 or more are going to be very disappointed. This will get him 3 games max.
He got 4.

Good enough for me.

Fk him.

4 games seems a *bit* long for a first offense considering what other stuff tends to get

BUT

I'm all for increased punishments & suspension lengths by the DPS. Better late than never when it comes to protecting players.

Really flies in the face of the “they’re talking to him to get him to calm down 🥺” stuff.

f***'s a coach supposed to say about his guy? You nitpicking every microdetail and laugh emojing every post has been tiresome.

Kid made a mistake and bad hit, its done

Now that punishment is down, maybe we can all move on...until 4/3
