He plays 5mins a game, takes horrible penalties and has a whopping 2pts on the season.

For context, Derek Boogard averaged 5:09 over his career.

I guess he fights people? If this were 1992 you may have a point

Those were YOUR words big guy.
As much as I already don't like him as a player, I really hope he doesn't end up like Derek Boogard in the end :-( There's a reason why this type of player is no longer common in this game. Derek's family probably wishes it happened decades earlier.

Devils fans absolutely hated Rempe after he hit Bastian, and were calling for his head since that game. I actually felt very bad for Bastian that he had the facial injuries he did. I thought the Devils trainers made a terrible decision to let someone whose face looked as disfigured as it did re-enter a game. But the reality is that it was nowhere near a dirty hit. It was 2 minutes for charging at most. The refs over-charged the hit because it looked gruesome. The NHL certainly would've suspended him there after all the commotion if it was a suspendable hit. It simply wasn't. Bastian had his head down, and Rempe had his elbow tucked. Hit him with his shoulder.

Your team literally traded for a guy who can't play any hockey so he can deter Rempe, and he didn't deter anything. Why would Rempe fight him? Macdermid is one of the worst players in the league. His team is icing him to the detriment of his team. The more he's on the ice the better for the opposing team. Rempe is a huge asset to his team on the other hand. He's rightly started refusing these staged fights because his team doesn't benefit.

Chances are no one is going to run Fox or Panarin. There are like 3 or 4 guys in the NHL that play anywhere resembling a fierce hitting style. The only two teams that have remotely been upset about Rempe hits are the Devils and Leafs. The Devils and Leafs are like the two softest team in league. They both have enforcer "tough guys", but neither does anything except staged fights to contribute. I'm not at all worried that Rempe will cause players to run Rangers after the evidence we have from those 10 games.
I don't know why I keep taking the bait - but I'll grant you a single direct reply here. All too familiar with your antics.

First paragraph - didn't even mention Bastian, wasn't thinking about nor referring to that hit in the post you quoted.

Second paragraph - it isn't rocket science. The Devils needed toughness so they got it for essentially nothing. Calling Rempe a huge asset is peak delusion - he has more PIMs than TOI in the 10 games in the NHL, he's right about as useful as MacDermid is to the Devils except MacDermid isn't out trying to deliberately hurt people. Again, he won't be rostered by March 2025.

Final paragraph - chances are any player over 6' is capable of running Fox or Panarin into the boards from behind. You think only a plug like Rempe can throw dirty hits? It might just be easier because he's oversized and reckless but anyone can catch someone else off guard.

Um... Not going to get into how Emelin tripped Kreider...

So let's talk about how the league failed to police Wilson and created an arms race. (no pun intended)

Wilson blatantly injured Panarin, no supplementary discipline.

Rangers decide to change the makeup of their roster to conform to this league "blessed" physicality.

And here we are.
Wilson defended him self from a player who jumped him from behind

Well, maybe because you’re mostly talking to devils fans, and the guy has played us for like 10 minutes and he’s gotten 2 majors and kicked out of both games on dirty plays.

It’s not that hard to see! 😂

Wasn't even 10 minutes - he managed to injure two players and get two game misconducts in 5:01 of ice time against the Devils this season.

Seems like he skated over to him at the boards from mid-ice too. His only intention was the lay him out.
He was playing the puck and finishing a check, which is fine. Sticking out his elbow upon realizing Jonas held up is the issue here.

So Rangers fans see Rempe as more then a goon but does Laviolette? He is a veteran coach and has dealt with young players for a long time now. Rempe has made numerous hits now that if Laviolette wanted him to "tone it down" he'd have done so.

To me either Laviolette thinks Rempe is a goon and uses him as one or Rempe isn't listening to his coach.

This kid looks like he could be a menace to the league for a while, assuming of course he figures out how to play within the rules.

Was surprised he didn't get a game for the hit on Bastian, but I understand the reasoning. 4 games for this one also seems light, but I understand that, that is where the wheel landed so they have to abide by it.

Should have been >5, but DOPS was never going to get this right the way they've assessed everything he's done so far.

Could have ended up worse than it did. Seemed like JS saw it coming, and rolled with it a little bit.

I thought it would be 3 but I feel the NHL is trying to calm him down right away and nip this in the butt before he eventually faces suspension again possibly
