I'd trade him right now for a mid 20s goal scoring winger(ideally LW) with term
A guy like Tom Wilson, Adrian Kempe or Travis Konency

If it was that simple as to just trade for a cup, every team would do it.Make any trade that gets us a CUP. That is the only goal!
Anyone in the NHL you can compare him to, to give me an idea of what his projection should/could be?
Lest we forget, since I have been on these forums, the hype surrounding our prospects is always off the charts.
Actually, if you cared to channel reality.....he does pretty much the opposite of everything you have claimed.Dubas will trade anyone at this point…1st round picks, blue chip prospects, anyone! He is desperate and knows he is out if the team does not have success this post season.
Oh yes...Andy Bathgate, Red Kelly....and since then only trade that came close was for Dougie. Not in a million years.

Oh wait....

Have to respond like this as for some reaso HF on my phone is giving huge spaces when I respond to someon
I don't see knies as a core level player. He's going to be a 30 goal guy at his peak
We are contending now and the only missing piece is a a Legit goal scoring LW
We held onto Robertson way to long and his values diminished since his D+1 year.
We can't be making the same mistake with knies.
Knies isn't a guy who will be impacting our cup chances much on his ELC. He'll be developing into a scoring power forward on his ELC. There will be ups and downs along the way.
The leafs are contenders right now, this year and next being two key chances at the cup.
Getting a guy like Konency (likely better than Knies will ever be), Wilson (one of the few legit Power forwards who can tilt a game), Kempe (bit of a lower end target but has skill and can step on any line) helps give us scoring outside of the big 4, who are not able to produce enough in the 1st round.
Konecny, Wilson, Kempe, Buchnevich (another high end target) are guys that you target and move Knies + 1st (for 3 of the 4, not Kempe, he shouldn't cost another 1st).
They can turn our offense around and complete the team
Those are all players with Term, so multiple playoff runsIf we go out in round 1 again this will be a trade that we as fans regret for the rest of his career. That is why we can't move him.
Thank youProbably somebody like Kreider. His potential is essentially a top six goal scoring power forward.
The hype around Knies isn't just contained to Leafs fans too, so I wouldn't worry there. He's a big deal among NCAA/Team USA development people too.
Start him on the 4th lineVery excited for this player, we definitely can't trade him for a short term rental.
But for the sake of this kid, don't expect him to go Wendel Clark 1993 playoffs as he makes his debut this spring. Chances are there will be an adjustment period and he won't look like Auston Matthews on steroids the first go round. But it is definitely exciting that he may be a future core player.
We haven't won a round yet.Make any trade that gets us a CUP. That is the only goal!
Because they had won multiple playoff round we haven't won one. Those are all players with Term, so multiple playoff runs
Buch for instance is a Nylander-level player ( a bit worse but on a beauty deal).
He gives us 3 playoff runs (2023, 2024, and 2025).
The Bolts took these risks and won 2 cups and made 3 finals.
Goodrow, Coleman, Hagel, were all deals where they overpaid on value but got multiple playoff runs for pieces who contemplated their roster and helped cap off on an elite core.
Ideally, we trade Knies + 2023 1st for Buchnevich and then Niemela + 2024 1st + Voit for Ekholm@50%.
We have probably the clear-cut best team for the next 3 years after those moves.
Maybe something like a Lawson Crouse?Anyone in the NHL you can compare him to, to give me an idea of what his projection should/could be?

He could also walk after a long Leafs playoff run or cup winDubas will trade anyone at this point…1st round picks, blue chip prospects, anyone! He is desperate and knows he is out if the team does not have success this post season.
ThanksMaybe something like a Lawson Crouse?
NYI has to know where the bucket of chicken is from. They won't give away 3 1st rounders for some second rate crap!Proposal:
to NYI: Matthew Knies, and a Bucket of Chicken
to TOR: 3 X 1st round picks (2023, 2024, and 2026), and Future Considerations

Biggs was never as good as Knies, he was tough so Burke grabbed him.Thank you
I think Crouse and Knies would up our game dynamicBiggs was never as good as Knies, he was tough so Burke grabbed him.
Whut?Shouldn't Holl be included there, I think there's a poster or 2 or 3 that are demanding we trade the dman with the best defensive numbers on the team, but apparently also the dman with the world's worst publicist.
Just because the Leafs are a contending team now doesn't mean we should go nuts and mortage the future especially when we're talking about possibly trading away the kind of player that we've been looking for a long time.@kb
