No one has said JT isn't a good player. IT makes 0 sense to move 20 year old Perfetti who is looking like a legit top 6 player, and possibly a top line player who the Jets will have control of for at least 7 years (and maybe more depending on how they structure the next few contracts), the 1st 3 on an ELC, for JT Miller, who the Jets would only have for 1.5 seasons.

IF the Jets are spending at the TD (which may not even be a good idea) they should be targeting bottom 6 depth scoring. Not trading away a piece like Perfetti for a short term fix.
Well if we retain 50% on Miller and the contract being prorated at the deadline, you guys will have cap to trade for whatever bottom 6 help you need.

every team in the playoffs is more or less interested in everything. Rangers with cap space are interested in everyone. Leafs don't have cap space but is willing to deal futures for max retention and 3-way double retention trades. 20 teams are interested in Giroux, Miller, Hertl, Chairot, Pavelski, Chychrun. Montreal is looking to deal everyone.

Canucks fans sure are dreaming big. Necas+Drury, Newhook+Barron, Schneider+Kravtsov+1st, Perfetti+Heinola.

Miller is great and he’s not a rental. He’s a legit first liner. He’s also not a superstar and he’s got 1.5 years of good contract left.

A package including a 1st, a really solid prospect who maybe was a recent later 1st and is trending well, another nice pick, and a youngish NHLer who maybe needs a change of scenery but has upside…I mean that is probably more what we are looking at.

I will be shocked if teams give young NHLers with big upside who are already critical pieces of their team (Necas, Jarvis, Newhook) or crown jewel prospects who occupy a unique projection position for their clubs (Schneider, Perfetti).
Canucks fans are going to see what Duchene got a few years ago and expect something similar. That was a big haul at the time. I think that's the template everyone expects out of this trade.

Lock this, reported by a clown with a face and voice only a mother could love. Guy has 0 inside info relevant to the Canucks and is a HACK!
He's been a sports reporter across Canada for many years. He could potentially have a source in Winnipeg rather than with the Canucks.
Also sometimes info is leaked to the media on purpose to test the waters, so you can't always count that part out.
(I also find his voice a bit grating)

Jets seem like an odd bidder. In their top 6 are Scheiffle, Connor, Ehlers, PLD, Wheeler who has struggled prior to his injury.

I would have figured upgrading the D would be a bigger priority given the package the Canucks would want for Miller.

And if you want Stanley and Vesalainen, then great. Otherwise, the point about trading valuable assets on Miller at this point in time for the Jets still stands.

Almost like Canucks are putting this out like that nonsense with Rangers. Checking in about a player is one thing.

He is top20 in scoring.
Except he isn’t. He’s about 5 goals short of that. If you are going by points he is tied with Adam Fox and Fox is not a locker room cancer who got traded off two contending teams and having article reporting he has divided a locker room against Captain.

Why wouldn't we ask/expect a return like that though? We're not desperate to move him and still have a realistic chance at the playoffs. Moving him now means giving up on the season. Can always wait till July to see his contact expectations and move him in the summer or next deadline.

It seems people still look at him as the NYR/TB Miller with some of these offers. We're talking about a 3yr PPg player, who is 20th in league scoring and plays C/W PP/PK and is 53% of FO.

The real value is that you can have all that for 2 playoffs at potentially $2.6M

Like there aren't even any comparables because this type of player at that salary is almost never available. The closest would be Duchene but he cost 2.5x more and put up half the points at the time.

I'm sure nucks fans sound like a broken record repeating this but it seems to be completely ignored with these proposals.

Also a late 1st is a sweetener, absolutely not the main or co-main piece. We want to be competing in 2 yrs and the assets we get need to reflect that timeline.

/rant

The argument is that he isn’t worth the ask to the teams that have a top tier leaguewide young player/prospect, not the Canucks should trade him for less. Canucks fans want to see their team sell really high. Opposing fanbases don’t believe that their teams will be in the market to buy really high and the arguments have been logical.

As strange as it sounds, Miller is playing too well to trade for. The type of assets generally made available for players of that term likely don’t cut it.

This "JT Miller is a locker room cancer" agenda is ridiculous. One Vancouver guy wrote that article, which was refuted right away. Anyone who has played sports knows things will get heated when you consistently lose games you should be winning. He is completive, not a cancer.

So in this week we have leaks for Miller connected to several different teams. Wonder if there are leaks from 3 different organizations or if 1 specific team is churning the rumor mill lol

Don't see how we could afford him Cap wise moving forward. Copp most likely gone as a UFA pricing himself out. Dubios needing a new deal. Unless someone like Demelo is involved and money retained on JT. But Colorado and NYR probably have more apatite and willingness to give up higher end assets that the Jets. Perfetti isn't available, Heinola probably not either.

Have you followed hockey before or is this your first season? Rumours always ramp up leading toward the deadline.
Do you think all the smoke about teams interested Chychrun is nothing but Arizona churning the rumour mill, or perhaps maybe, just maybe, good teams want to acquire good players?

JT Miller if available, is the most valuable forward on the market.

Just stop… maybe he was back in the rangers days. Rangers should go try and pry hertl out of San Jose. Miller can go to a contender. So much hate on for him. Pretty sure most teams would be better for having him on their team.

we get it…. Everyone wants him at a reasonable return level. Can say that about most player options. If he’s actually available he will be one of the top few options on the market between now/trade deadline. Whether your personal opinion of his character has any legs or not.
