I wasn't fond of his last game. He adds almost nothing besides physicality right now.

He hit a Flyer farmhand hard in the AHL and then got whacked a few times for it.....so 0-1 in AHL fights so far this season . He should have went to town on the team captain 34 yr old guy Wilson !!!

This board has people loving on Rempe and people hating on Rempe. Truth is both sides have fair points. Rempe is not nearly as bad as some say nor is he a savior. He is a young Ranger who has not played many games. I'm willing to just watch him play and then judge him based on the whole not just on the negatives or positives. He has both. People should be willing to look at both and not just the extremes.

Rempe played a very good game before the major. Drew three penalties had a great scoring chance negated by a slash. Hes showing that he can be an effective player but he needs to remember that his elbows are normal people height.

It looked to me that he was bracing himself for the glass with that forearm and clipped his head in the process. I hope thats the case cause theres no room for blatant headshots. Either way when you see numbers the whole way you gotta let up. Unfortunately if he keeps this up he wont have a very long career. That would be a shame because he has a crazy skill set for a guy that big. Really want to see him develop into a menace on the 4th line that can disrupt the oppositions gameplan. A skating atomic bomb.

If he gets suspended i will pause my posts at 1994 until we win another cup...... nice knowing you guys! Maybe just until he comes back instead.

This just makes too much sense.

I thought the hit was dumb and Rempe needs to get better in that department but to pretend he wasn't having a good, if not great game, prior to the hit is disingenuous.

Also have mixed feelings about the major. Generally not a good look to take a major and don't want to see players injured. However, if this was a Cup final game and Rempe took Miro out of the game (or series), how would you feel? Again, mixed feelings.

Also, would the hit draw the same reactions/call if it was against a random 4th line guy? Maybe, but not so sure.

I really think there's a place for Rempe on this team. They generally seem to play better when he's around. He just needs a lot of coaching and I wonder if Lavi is a little at fault for encouraging Rempe to play a bit over the edge (can you blame him after the way this squad has looked lately?).

The only bad part of the hit was that it was from behind.

The elbow coming up and hitting heiskanen in the back of the neck was far from intentional. Yes he needs to control his body better but that’s a natural position of someone throwing a check. He just happens to be 6 inches taller than most guys on the ice.

The distance from the boards wasn’t an issue as he pancaked Heiskanen to the boards, essentially a wrap up.

But, he did see numbers all the way and id suspect a 5+ game suspension as being “fair” for a “repeat offender”.

Rempe works hard and is a humble kid and definitely isn’t this “monster” most non-ranger fans make him out to be. I hope he can learn to scale it back about 20% because with his size and speed he doesn’t need to be chasing guys with 120% effort.

I agree with all of this and if you want Occam’s Razor it’s that he’s definitely one of our 12 most effective forwards. Why shouldn’t he be in the lineup. The other 11 guys will get more ice time, and we have had an elite PK and goalie for a long time. They need to play to their strengths instead of being something they aren’t.

I've never been enthusiastic about Rempe, nor did I believe his presence in the lineup last year made much of an impact -- but until the hit on Heiskanen, I was convinced his presence in the lineup last night was a major lift to the team. And that was before he drew three penalties against the Stars in the second period. The Rangers weren't perfect, but they were better.

It defies logic somewhat, but it looks like Rempe made the team better until the Heiskanen hit. Unless Rempe learns to take those hits out of his game, he will be a drag on the team instead. He was getting "reputation" minor penalties called on him already in last year's playoffs. Even if he had the same positive effects last night, every night, it could all be undone if he can't find a way to to play his game within the rules. Rempe really shouldn't be learning how to throw hits safely after having reached the professional level. He's dangerous in a way that's not sustainable.

So far it's been a sad story, I'm pulling for him although his time to be an NHL player is running out. Rempe is going to get kicked out of the league similair to Rafai Torres.

??

If he wasn’t as dumb as a literal stump he wouldn’t have somehow gone from

To

This does look bad from these angles. He needs to turn, tuck his arms and hit using the side of his body, not pancake the guy from behind.
