Only for people who watch TSN.Didn’t realize this was a thing.
Only for people who watch TSN.Didn’t realize this was a thing.
Was clean, head up or head down shouldn't matter. Shoulder tucked, it's not rempes job to prevent the opposition from putting themselves in a poor position.Head is clearly up. He was turning up ice. It's the hitter's responsibility to make a clean hit. Rempe goes for the left half of the body and ensures contact up high. If he angles to Bastians left shoulder he has a much great chance of a clean hit.
I'd like to see a longer replay. Rempe appears to come from distance. Gliding at the time of impact would not exclude him from a charging call - if the league remembered they had that rule in the book.

If that's the worst thing you have ever seen you have a lot of posts for only watching the game for 6 months9 games. If the NHL is serious about headshots. No need for that in the game. Throw the book at him. Disgraceful. Worst thing I've ever seen. Reminds me of Dale Hunter.
Or
Just suspend Kadri for 3 games in lieu.
Like, how am I supposed to debate you when you don’t even know the rules?
Did you even watch the video?Rempe raises his arm so that his elbow hits Bastian in the face. It’s a textbook match penalty for elbowing, even before Rule 48
Clearly it is. There are rules in place for hits to the head. Nowhere does it say that a player in an athletic stance that receives a hit to the head nullifies the call. The hitter is responsible by every rule in the book. It's simply ignored by "hockey culture" and its unquenchable thirst to blame the victim. Was clean, head up or head down shouldn't matter. Shoulder tucked, it's not rempes job to prevent the opposition from putting themselves in a poor position.
See. I win. Thanks.Rule is pasted below to help you out. Bastian is reaching for a puck along the boards. He doesn't duck at the last second. In fact, Bastian's head is at the same level at the opening of the clip, when Rempe is out of frame. It's quite possible Rempe thought Bastian would straighten himself up before the hit was laid, but that's on Rempe.
48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A hit resulting in contact with an
opponent’s head where the head was the main point of contact and
such contact to the head was avoidable is not permitted.
In determining whether contact with an opponent's head was
avoidable, the circumstances of the hit including the following shall be
considered:
(i) Whether the player attempted to hit squarely through the
opponent’s body and the head was not "picked" as a result of poor
timing, poor angle of approach, or unnecessary extension of the
body upward or outward.
(ii) Whether the opponent put himself in a vulnerable position by
assuming a posture that made head contact on an otherwise full
body check unavoidable.
Did you actually read that or no? It exonerates rempe. See (ii)Rule is pasted below to help you out. Bastian is reaching for a puck along the boards. He doesn't duck at the last second. 48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A hit resulting in contact with ano pponent’s head where the head was the main point of contact and

(ii) Whether the opponent put himself in a vulnerable position by assuming a posture that made head contact on an otherwise full body check unavoidable.
it's not if you are hitting through the core of the body. the league has constantly ruled that even if principle point of contact is the head that it doesn't matter if the player is hitting through the core of the body and has proper form (not charge, elbow tucked, etc). that is completely different then a player hitting someone from the side and skating with their shoulder through someone's head. Even Kenny D was claiming an elbow at first and then saw the replay and took that back.Smoking a guy with primary contact from your shoulder to his head is an objective penalty.
But the principal point of contact was the head....which is illegal in the NHL whether it is hit with the shoulder or the elbow. It wasn't a legal hit in the NHL based off of it's rulebook. I don't think it was like an egregiously dirty hit or anything but I wouldn't be shocked if he gets a call either.See. I win. Thanks.
Rempe didn’t take a poor angle of approach, didn’t time it poorly or extend his arm.
Thank you

Thank you
He has 12 points in 43 AHL games...Kind of a silly post, but I guess most haven't followed his development. The kid was drafted as an awkward, tall, skilled guy. He changed his game as he aged but never really lost the skill he had as a young kid.
He's also a good skater (not just for his size, he's a good skater in general - elite for his size) as we saw when he sent Bastian into the netherrealm
I think Rempe should have avoided the hit and the penalty is justified but point (ii) could be argued here. I have no idea how Rempe makes a legal body check on this play.Rule is pasted below to help you out. Bastian is reaching for a puck along the boards. He doesn't duck at the last second. What type of role do you think he was playing in the ahl? What type of role do you think he was called up for? Shouldn't be to hard to figure out.He has 12 points in 43 AHL games...
I’m done with this.I'll win when the NHL suspends him.
Based on your interpretation, if a guy is on his knees, you can obliterate his head against the boards with your hips.
