If I can sum up Dorion's reaction from the time he traded for and signed Murray to tonight's game in Vancouver:

Absolute fail ,by our GM here....Did you even bother to scout this POS before you traded for ,and signed him

Matt Murray “I’m going to get my money whether it’s hear or somewhere else”

Pierre Dorion “I’ve heard that before somewhere. Love the passion. Sign me up”

can’t help but notice the decline in Murray and Karlssons games, and both got their money from GMs who were trading for these CV’s and not for their current game. Brutal

Murray was terrible last year and it wasn't like the contract changed anything here. He was bad and he is bad. Plenty of people were skeptical about this. There's a reason the headlines surrounding this deal we're all about '' Murray finding his game back''. Murray was terrible last season and outplayed by Tristan Jarry. Erik Karlsson was still recognized as one of the best players in the world at his position and was still a #1 Dman at the time of the trade. He' s still a top pair defensemen in the NHL today.

Didn't take a crystal ball to know that Murray would be a big risk and it backfired. For Murray it had nothing to do with the contract it's just that he's not that good. That's on Dorion and the pro scouting, not some vague idea that he's mailed it in after getting a contract. If he had been any good in the past year and a half maybe.. But it makes no sense to make that assumption with what we know.

I heard the Pitt fans saying Murray was no good. Had the same feeling trading for him after Trading for Ryan and reading their fans comments that Ryan disappeared for long stretches of SEASONS not games and wasn’t a guy who made things happen contrary to his reputation.

sometimes the fans do know best. And also it always they know better then this ownership/management group. Should of signed Mark Stone.

The pro scouts on this team have absolutely no clue what they're doing and our GM is lost. Pierre Dorion being GM is like putting a casual fan of the early 2010's as NHL GM. We're trading assets for washed up players that bring next to no value to the team. The Stepan trade is the best example here. How can you rationalize paying a 2nd rounder for a cap dump at a time where teams are paying to get rid of these same type of deals. Arizona was against the cap and virtually no teams could help them but we just handed them a get out of jail free card with a bottle of wine and a charcuterie plate just because we have a clown as GM. In no other organization would PD be a GM or even assistant GM for that matter. He's a good scout and that's it. He has no social skills which is probably one of the most important things as general manager, and he doesn't understand the trade market.

I wonder when he tunes into the fact that his ‘character guy’ trades have all been terrible and kept the team in last place?

It's hard to know, but this year he will have to answer questions. In the last few years people were fine with the idea of losing considering there was a plan in place and the idea was to get high picks. He should be fired this year, it probably won't happen but he definitely should.

This year is probably the first year of the last 3 where he's made legitimate long term decisions since the team was trying to be more competitive. Choosing Dadonov over Duclair for example, trading for Matt Murray... These deals are going to impact this team and its ability to retain players for more than a year.

The character guys.. I have less issue with. I still think the idea was absolutely terrible, but at least we didn't give up too much for Watson, Gudbranson, Paquette, J. Brown and Coburn. It's definitely a lost opportunity of acquiring a good player like Devon Toews, who would've actually helped us and we could've traded him for assets in the future. Lack of foresight again here.

The idea that replacement level players could come in and insulate the kids is also insane. Like you say a Mark Stone would've been incredible. Also fans were quick to say the contract demands were too high for a guy like Pageau. I'd much rather have Pageau than Dadonov or Murray or Gudbranson and all the spare parts we've added. We let go of the heart and soul players of this team and replaced them with high risk pieces that will never have the same impact.

The reason I am not as worried is because I always considered Daccord the goalie of our future. We have a bunch of prospects and I believe one of them will pan out when we ready to compete. I always viewed Murray as a stop gap who'll be solid backup in last 2 years of his deal(a la Halak) and if he's anything more than it's a great deal.

Dear God is this blowing up in our faces in the worst possible way so far. Good news is, after a weak first goal last game, Hogberg was solid rest of the way. Here's hoping he takes another step to his game.

Man was i wrong on this one, i didn't think he'd be our saviour or anything but i thought he'd be an upgrade over last year.

Structure in front of him has been terrible but come on...

Worst goalie trade since Leclaire, at least we weren't paying Leclaire gobs of money

So what do we do with him now? We're f***ed aren't we

Logan Brown, Brannstrom, Balcers OOPS!, Chlapik, Jaros OOPS.

I also want to see what Sokolov can do, he seems to have a bit of magic, the season is frigged completely and I’d like to see him Play a game or tow

I was happy with this signing. Thought Dorion was crafty. Turn out Dorion got had and Murray is a bag of magic beans

A couple more games and we’ll just have to play goalies on merit and forget the contract values.
Maybe Murray could use a bit of time off while Hogberg takes over. If Hogberg isn’t any better, trade him/waive him and get daccord in there.

This is our buyout candidate.

I just get the contract. Didn’t we at least want to see what we had,?

How did we lose to this bum at the ECF.

Man i am still haunted by that Game 7. Legit could have won the cup.

That's what goalies in this league have been like for the past 15 years or so.

I mean, how many guys in the NHL have had a really solid 5-year stretch since 2005? The days of having a stud in nets for the better part of a decade and no worries about consistency or big saves is long gone. Whtever is going on in the goalie world, it's not creating guys who are consistently elite from year to year anymore.
