For sure he'll be left unprotected. Too much money and term to be picked up. They'll have better (cheaper) options.

Crazy talk. Murray will absolutely not be left unprotected. They traded and signed him to be the number one as this team grows. No chance he’s not protected.

If he has a bad year and one of Hogberg or Daccord emerge as legitimate options, I could see it happening. I don't think it's likely.

Can't look good in front of this team. One of the worst defenses in league history. Even Chabot is a tire fire.

To be fair, he was pretty trash last season behind a different D. Plays way too deep in his net most of the time, bad rebound control and a weak glove hand.
I hope he figures it out because I want this team to do well, but what I've seen from him hasnt been good.

Big contracts for goalies are kind of built in expansion protection honestly.
I probably like Murray more than most around here, but given his contract and the other options likely available I'd take my chances and protect Joey. Best case Murray isn't selected and they continue to have an average to decent option in nets, worst case they free up $6.25 million and (maybe) have a hole to fill depending on how Hogberg, Daccord and Gustvasson progress.

The nice thing about White is he can be bought out for very cheap or possibly left for Seattle (or pay them to take him). The worst part is that money could have gone to Pageau who would be a nice boost to this bumsquad.

I think he’s a fine player, but we don’t have the skill to make him useful. More so that he seems to be a poor fit. We have no one to feed him the puck
Was thinking of how different Vegas / Pittsburgh last few years woulda been if Pitt left Murray unprotected vs Fleury waiving. This is since the expansion draft. Fleury has been a dramatically better goaltender than Murray over that time period.
