Matt Greene doesn't score in the shootout AGAIN, Kings lose 2-1

Meh. 1 point is huge.

The game vs. Calgary is shaping up to be a must-win (an actual one, not one of those fake must-win's).

yeah i'm sure if we went with 79 losses this year...

i'm sure there were more than a few must wins amongst those.. ughh nevermind

So much garbage to clear out in the summer

Greene, Wiliams, Stoll/Richards??

I'm actually more excited for that...need more skill. I'm getting a feeling it's just not in the cards this year.. Every time they have a chance to strengthen their position they **** the bed.

maybe if the Kings were not 3 and 15 in OT we could be resting players this week instead of worried about the Jets, Oliers, Flames and Sharks
Really we are worried about the Oilers and Sharks. Two teams trying to improve their draft pick.

I bet the Kings regret blowing 2 3rd period leads vs Calgary this year, which ended up in OT losses. Jeez.

Everybody looked tired in the 3rd.

Kings still control their own destiny.

I'm curious why you guys keep saying this? Typically when I use/hear this phrase it's because the circumstances around the team's play is basically solely under their control to make the playoffs - as was the case prior to this game. As of right now though, that isn't the case. No matter what the Kings do, if Winnipeg and Calgary do better, we're out. So the Kings don't control their own destiny. So I'm curious why you guys interpret it differently?

Kopitar's shootout attempt looked like a shot you would take in warmups to get your goalie to feel the puck.

It was embarrassing.

And make all the sarcastic comments you want about people blaming Greene, he is a complete and utter disaster on the ice right now. He sucks and should not be playing.

Yup. Matt Greene is a disaster, yet somehow he ended up +1 in a game where only 1 goal was scored by the Kings.

Yah, no second chances next season. You saw how RIchards turned out, don't make the same mistake twice.

This offseason could arguably be more important. Richards, Stoll, Williams, and Greene should be no where near this twteam next season.

But it worries me that they are all veteran guys that Dean and Darryl love and are big in the locker room. If Lombardi ****s this up we will be in trouble long term. Dean in my opinion is the best GM in the game and I expect him to be smarter than last offseason but still.

Guys, how do you expect to clean out garbage like Matt Greene. Lombardi literally just re-signed him for 4 years. He's loyal to his players, cmon.

No team rest players. Its a huge no, no that carries a massive fine if Bettman feels its warranted.

And too much rest can cause problems in the playoffs. Players want to play games and stay in it.

I just don't want the Sharks to have the opportunity to decide the Kings fate by making Saturday the only game they show up in.

Because in order for Calgary to "do better" they have to beat us.

Because the Kings play Calgary. With a possible 99 points still on the board.

But Calgary can't do better then the Kings if the Kings win their last three games.

There are six points left on the table for the Kings to earn, points against Edmonton, Calgary and San Jose.

The Canucks have four points left to earn, and they're against the Arizona and Edmonton.

The only way they can catch Vancouver is if the Canucks lose their two remaining games, which I would say is highly improbable, so forget about securing home ice in the playoffs.

The Blues play the Jets tomorrow. The Kings need a Blues win and they have to win their next two games.

I'd say we're lucky we're playing Edmonton next, but you just never know which Kings team will show up anymore. The game with Calgary is HYUGE now. Still have a shot at the postseason but it's close.

Yeah, Winnipeg has been taking care of teams. I'm very impressed with how well they have played in big games this year. Can't really say the same about the Kings. Wouldn't count on Winnipeg dropping points from here on out, tbh.
