His wrist isn't holding him back. The surgery is supposed to prevent him breaking it again since it's vulnerable having been broken before.

I've had broken bones in my wrist. I was able to play with it without major problems but it would have occasional fatigue and pain for years doing all sorts of activities.

He left the KHL to try his luck back with the Rangers because he has publicly declared a wish to play in the NHL. He's also stated that the money is not his motivating factor. And if I'm not entirely mistaken he's also stated in interviews that Rangers is the NHL club for him

With that in mind, and judging from the signals the player himself has given I have less than little doubt that he'll accept a low-pay 2 year deal. The only stepping stone is the fact that it needs to be a one-way contract or he is definitely leaving the club. But if he gets a one-way, I am relatively sure that he will stick with the Rangers.

As has been mentioned 500 times by others his size will always be a factor, but one is inclined to adore his "in-your-face-giant-man" attitude since he came back. And it seems the all round opinion is that his game has improved, and is good enough for the rangers (With some exceptions but that is what forums are for).

Hopefully Kreider will be a bit more up to speed next season and will be able to replace Pyatt on his line, alternatively he's moved up with Step-Nash.

He's got a lot to work on, as does all hockey players, but given the same level of trust he's currently getting he could blossom into a 60+ pointer for the rangers next season

This might not be whats happened to Zucc at all, but I broke some bones in my wrist a couple years ago playing football (EU version, not pansy american version), and even if the bones have healed, I feel stabbing pains when I lift objects with my wrist in a certain angle, judging from the fact that the joint flexes constantly when you hold a hockey stick, it might be bugging him as well.

But that's just guesswork

Mats Zuccarello playfully teased Rick Nash about the "monster hit" he delivered during practice on Nash, who only stands nine inches taller than the 5-foot-7 Norwegian. "This is great, I am having so much fun," said Zuccarello. "I just want to get up and go the rink and be with the guys every day."
 
At one million a year (if he does sign for that) it's worth a gamble. That's nearly minimum wage in the league nowadays.

The hard part will be finding the right linemates for him. He reminds me of Kovalev in a way...lots of skill and creativity, but really needs to play with guys who understand and can take advantage of the creative side of the game to be successful. (Not saying he's anywhere near as good as Kovalev, but he has the elite creative aspect to his game.) And, of course, with his smaller size, he needs some bigger bodies out there to help out and give him space.

Not entirely sure if the Rangers have the right complementary pieces for his line.
 
after seeing how he has played since coming back to NY, i believe he can be a 50+ point player, IF and its a big if he can find some real chemistry with someone and not just chemistry as in two guys whose game compliments one another he needs someone that can play off his creativity, which is off the charts.

not to say we dont have the guys that can play with him, but a good training camp to practice with certain guys who can fully get on the same page as him will do him and this team wonders, itd be stupid to not at least try. if it doesnt work out he can be waived or dealt quite easily.
 
I am really happy with the way he gets Richards back on track. It's no coincidence Richards has racked up points since Zucc arrived. They fit together. However, Richards is too expensive to play on the 3rd line (Stepan and Brassard are the top2 centers on the team).

Richards will be bought out so it remains to be seen if Zucc can show the same poise and creativity with a different center (PLEASE, not Boyle!!!) but I am happy for now. He has shown more than many of us has thought/hoped.
 
not really sure how much brassard and zucc have played together but i feel like they could develop some real chemistry their two really creative guys, get them on the same page and that could be fun to watch.

What line doesn't matter much in the Torts system. Richards line played top minutes last night, more than Nash & Co.
 
He's a much improved player over the last time he was with the team. And he was again last night. He looked like a dangerous player several times. I'd love to see more finish from him, but there is little to complain about right now. He's getting his chances. He's creative. He's improving nearly every game. He's making the players around him better. The talent is there. What's not to like?

I'd say he's a must sign right now. For around $1 million? Larceny.

His 2nd call-up last season he was playing this way. Then he got hurt.

I don't think I could possibly be a bigger fan of Zuccarello. He makes an impact every single shift.
 
The reason Zucc puts his gloves into big guys' face is because nobody wants to be called a ***** for taking on the smallest guy in the league :D
 
I like how he plays with balls the size of MSG. Should definitely re sign him.
 
He nearly drew a penalty getting involved with skinner (for some reason the ref didn't call a trip), and then played a part on Brass's goal.

I hope we play Boston if for no other reason than to see a single shift with him against Charizard.

Zucc and Chara would be the most epic staredown in NHL history :laugh:
 
Another solid game. His confidence seems to grow into the sky. Things seem to happen when he is on the ice. Really nice job on Brassard´s goal, and he also started the rush that lead to 3-3.

Really fun to watch him stand up to everybody, not taking any crap no matter if it´s a 300 pound giant....

His CorsiOn/Relative/RelativeQoC and on ice Sh% are on the top of the team amongst forwards. Granted, over 60% if his zone stars are in the offensive zone. He is top 20 league wide in Relative and CorsiOn.

Btw, shouldn´t he get an assist on Brassards goal? Looks like he touches the puck before it hits Brassards stick.
