Wow, Callahan fans will go to any length, huh? +/- is a useless stat. Unless St. Louis was responsible for the goals against it means nothing (same can be said for goals for). Also his PP points don't count in the +/- but count on the scoreboard. Without MSL we're out in round 1.

+/- is not a useless stat. It needs to be taken with a grain of salt, but it's not useless. Everything doesn't have to be extreme.

I thought it was the player needed to be on the team at the end of the season, and have played in 41 games or... not any player who played 41 games. Think there was an issue with Olczyk years ago (think he played in 37 games, but was the head of the Black Aces).

well, assuming you aren't saying the Rangers are going to lose, I'm just going by what I looked up in the above link

edit: looks like About.com failed on this, from a second link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Leech44/List_of_player_names_on_the_Stanley_Cup

"Currently, a player must have played at least 41 games for the championship team during the regular season (provided the player remains with the team when they win the Cup) or played in at least one game of the Stanley Cup Finals"

Exactly it does state provided the player remains with the team when they win

+/- as an outlier stat is important...but if its in line with the team within a reasonable margin of error...it really is a meaingless stat.

There are a lot of things you have to factor in - linemates, who the line tends to play against, etc., but it's not meaningless.

That's like saying the number of tackles is meaningless if it's line with the rest of the defense.

Tampa fan, Richie fan and still a huge Marty fan. Some Tampa fans are bitter and feel stabbed in the back. Time will heal these wounds. Marty was the best to ever put on a Bolts sweater. I really want to see he little guy lift the cup once again. Go get it guys!

Marty is doing well in New York but his best performance came Sunday when he delivered a speech to remember his mom.

You're the very few down here! Marty is the greatest TB athlete ever (not a lot of years between the Rays/Lightning, but still). 13 years isn't tarnished by what went on in the end. The Lightning will retire his number after he calls it quit unlike what most fans are saying on the radio/around town and especially what that moron Duemig on 620 says... I understand the hate and bitterness, but let's be real here. They'll get over it and, like you said, time will heal.

Marty loved Tampa, but had problems with Yzerman. He had many chances to leave Tampa but didn't. It was nice to see numerous players from Tampa and staff from Tampa to the funarals

I hope nobody regrets the trade now. If you do say so now and why you do. Everybody sees things differently

I was against the trade, but it's obviously paying big dividends right now. I said we needed to win the cup to justify the trade and I didn't think we were good enough to contend for the cup. Well, right now the Rangers are playing great and proving me wrong.

I still think not having those picks will hurt us down the road, but right now, it's worth it.

Who cares that the team is two wins away from the cup finals?

All about picks and prospects.

Imagine if Callahan was moved for prospects lol.

This is one of the best deadline acquisition in some time. MSL is the teams best forward.

I was in favor of the trade overall. I thought we gave up a bit too much and was definitely not a fan of the ECF clause; if you're gonna do something like that it should be contingent upon the SCF. But I thought it was still a net positive trade in the large sense, especially since we'll have him next year as well.

But at this point, even if we lose this series in 6, I think the worst you can say about the deal is that it would be a wash.

This has now got way beyond having anything to do with Callahan.

Wanna talk about "are we one player away from winning it all?" Ya know what the answer is to that question? "Depends on the player"

We got the right ONE.

This is not about a single player scoring a bunch of goals. This is about the right guy coming in at the right time and a group of good players ( some great) and becoming a team that plays with pride and plays for each other.

If you've ever wondered what exactly is meant by "intangibles", you're seeing it now.

You are bang on and I thing you are seeing your next captain if and I do say if the players vote

Woooooo tht one timer tonight was nasty by Marty... Carey price would've stopped that if he was in the net with the rookie too!
