Oh geez, now Brodeur is only a product of his defenseman now.Ovechkin+Bure=Goals said:Damn...Brodeur was shaky against the czech...defenders saved at lest 3 sure goals...

I'll never understand the obsession with Brodeur. Cant people enjoy the fact they get to see a legend?Lou is God said:What today help proved is all those anti-Marty folks who claim that he can't play behind a bad team effectively and his good play is soley result of the his teams play in front of him have no idea what they are talking about.
Well I think it's safe to say this tournament has dispelled yet another silly Brodeur myth.

again u (intentionally) mischaracterize ppl who think brodeur is overrated. no one says brodeur's play is solely the product of the team in front of him. it's that he gets too much credit for team success/play, that his play has a lot to do w/ team play--much more than many ppl want to admit.Lou is God said:What today help proved is all those anti-Marty folks who claim that he can't play behind a bad team effectively and his good play is soley result of the his teams play in front of him have no idea what they are talking about.

You just described Patrick Roy.nik jr said:it's not that he can't play behind a bad team effectively, it's that he doesn't/hasn't consistently. hasn't played like an elite goalie behind bad team. he's certainly a good/great goalie, but he's not an all-time great, or a legend. i doubt he would have won anything on a mediocre team.
You can't be serious man? Don't make me dig up the half of a dozen threads on Brodeur being overrated because of just that claim! In fact the anti-Marty camp has been more vocal about this than the pro-Marty camp has about what you suggest is giving Marty to much credit, in fact we have never done that. Find me any threads or post where someone has suggested that.nik jr said:again u (intentionally) mischaracterize ppl who think brodeur is overrated. no one says brodeur's play is solely the product of the team in front of him. it's that he gets too much credit for team success/play, that his play has a lot to do w/ team play--much more than many ppl want to admit.

Never once did I say this tournament soley proved anything, I said it helped. And much to the anti-Marty folks chagrin it did. I mean a Marty overrated thread used to get in at least a dozen or so posters claiming he is overrated, but as time passes more and more of them have disappeared, coincidence? I think not.nik jr said:brodeur was strong in net today, canada's best player. but that doesn't disprove anything. hnlicka was also good today, and ppl don't say he's great. brodeur was weak against italy and let in a soft goal and several pucks got through him vs czechs. so i guess those games helped prove u wrong? nabokov and luongo were better, so i guess the tourney showed that nabokov and luongo>brodeur?
