Figured this was thread worthy simply because the last time he did something whiny it got Babcock fired. This was during a timeout in the third where Keefe called him out for his bad mistakes leading to Anaheims two goals, and then he benched Marner. What’s going on in Toronto?

EDIT: Figured I should mention that this was when the Leafs were up by a goal in the third, and he took off before thinking of acknowledging his own mistakes.

This probably happens more often than people realize. The cameras picked it up because he was benched for a shift and they left it on Marner for the next 5 minutes to see what he would do.

Normally it takes a while for broadcasters to even notice when someone gets hurt and goes to the locker room.

Krug got injured last night and went back for the very next shift and Pang didn't even notice he was on the ice.

Are we supposed to have a problem with this? Not a huge Marner fan, but I don't see what the big deal is here.

Here's Malkin, Kessel and Sullivan all getting into it on route to winning a Cup. This stuff happens.

His first mistake definitely led to a goal. That was on him. He should be personally accountable.

The second one is more complicated than that. For me it was more of a team mistake. The pass to him wasn't good to begin with, and then Holl doesn't do his job on the weak side (He's creeping in as opposed to being ready to back off. Why?). IMO it's a coaching mistake to stick that on one player. Yell at the whole team for sure.

Was making a scene another mistake? Yes. But it seems like there are a bunch of mistakes going around.

I love to pile on Toronto but I'm not sure what to do with this. Did he just go home in the middle of a game?

Initially I thought he can't handle criticism, which is still the case imo but for a different reason. I watched a video of 12 year old Mitch and his crazy dad and it started to make sense. His comment to Keefe how "we're grown men" made me realize he hates criticism because it makes him feel like that little kid being scolded after a lousy game on the way home from the rink.

Player walks down tunnel.

If it's actually a tantrum, maybe find a video that shows that or some context.

You know it is bad in Toronto when the main board is more reasonable than the Leafs' board about a situation. Lots of posters think this is the end of the world after asking players to show some emotion.

Like most said, this is a nothing incident and happens a lot.

This is only "thread worthy" because he's a Leaf. Just another example of non-Leaf fans being as obsessed with the Leafs as anyone and causing the over abundance of Leaf related threads on the main boards (which the same people that make these threads then bitch about).

They throw tantrums because they want to win (and eventually did), Marner just comes off as an entitled kid given his piss poor effort on the ice. I don't even know what his dad is saying about all this.

If Marner farted we'd have headlines and threads about how the Leafs are failing because "Marner doesn't pass muster, he passes wind".
