Obtuse huh lol says the guy who claims marners made the team and the he wasn’t named in the small group that made the team …… loool your awesome

Do you realistically think Marner is not making team Canada? Let’s be for real. There’s about a 5% chance of that happening. Every projection ive seen has him as a top 6 RW on team Canada. Hes making the team. I don’t even know why we’re are being coy about it. He’s one of Canada’s best RW. And Zach Hyman has pretty much come down to earth as well.

Point
Marner
Reinhart
Stone
Barzal

Probably the right side for Canada. You could play Reinhart or Point at center too. But the right side is the easiest part for Team Canada. Who they are gonna play on left wing is the big question mark. Outside of Verhaghe I can’t really think of any locks.

which lineup do you think bring more balance and harder for opponents to play against in playoffs.

Knies-AM-MM
Max-JT-Willie
McMann-Domi-Calle

Or

Knies-AM-Domi
Calle-JT-MM
McMann-Holmberg-Willie
The second option for me, not close. Playoffs, regular season, morning, night time, games in Europe, any time at all.

I agree that he should make the team like I thought lily would definitely be in the top 6 fighting for top 4 minutes, funny thing about assumptions though right, not suggesting the 2 are the same of course

I don't see what else it could possibly be. International hockey was so awesome in the 70's/80's but boy is it ever boring now. Even the Olympics doesn't compare to what it was like back in the day but this 4 nations thing ... I just can't imagine players care much about this, and it wouldn't surprise me if being picked to play was a disappointment for most of them.
I doubt any of them will be disappointed. Playing for Canada is in their DNA going back to U-18 and U-20 teams.

What is the purpose for this 4 nation tournament? Isn’t there already enough international tournaments out there. could it be that it’s just a cash cow for the league and the NHLPA?

It’s to get fans excited about international hockey again and also because of the short notice in putting the tournament together they likely could not get arena space in the middle of February to expand the tournament. Most 2025 dates have been booked probably over two years ago. Also it can only be NHL players so there’s only so many people from each country in the NHL.

The 2027 tournament is going to be an expanded format. 2025 is basically serving as the test run, figuring out logistics ect for the 2027 World Cup

At the men’s level only the world championships is available and it’s not best in best. This absolutely matters to any player born in the 90’s who have had little to no opportunity to play best on best at the men’s level.

Or they can just send players to the Olympics again.

Have you guys been paying attention lmao? The players are going back to the Olympics.

2025 - Four Nations NHL event
2026 - Olympics IIHF with NHL participation
2029 - Full World Cup NHL event
2030 - Olympics IIHF with NHL participation

The 2025 and 2029 tournament is to get revenue for NHL (which we should all want since we continuously cry about the salary cap). But also build up international play as well. Which is good. International tournaments are amazing.

I didn't know they are going back 100%. Thought they are still talking about it.

Being a Rugby fan, I like the Idea of 4 Nations, and it should make it like Rugby 6 Nations, where it happens every year. Maybe Hockey should become the FIRST North American Sports that have International Breaks like Euro Football. As long as owners can split the revenues, don't think they would mind. And it doesn't need a week or weeks off. Just have an International game during the season like Sat Night.
Instead of Leafs Vs whoever and Western Canada teams Vs whoever, have a Sat night in Nov where it is 4 Nations or 6 Nations or 8 Nations game, and then have another game in Dec..... If it is 8 nations(Canada, US, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Russia, Germany and Czech Republic), split them into 2 groups, then have Semi and Finals. It is really a tournament with 5 games.
One of the hurdles might be flying players from Europe over a weekend, but I don't see that as a reason from stopping it from happening.

Since Rugby is a way tougher and more physical sports than Hockey, I don't see how Hockey players can't handle this.

Our PP isn't doing anything when Tavares and Nylander are the guys expected to forecheck and win the puck.

We also have 2 guys Rielly and Marner that dont shoot

Then we have Matthews that goes on stretches where he doesnt want to shoot unless its a perfect open shot
After being on the left side for faceoffs, Nylander is more usually back at the point with Rielly or OEL.

I'd like to see Timmins given a "shot" on the PP. Right hand shot and has had pretty good offensive instincts in the past.

PP1
Nylander Matthews Tavares
Timmins OEL

Everyone can shoot and are the right handedness

Could be, I really don't know. Those junior teams though, they were playing to be world champions. This tournament seems pretty meaningless to me so ... I think someone was saying something the other day about some players hoping not to be picked, no idea if there's anything to that or not (and unlikely they'd say anything publicly so we'll probably never know for sure).

Most players also have no interest in the world championships once they're out of the playoffs, I just don't know.

The only one i could accept to consider him more consistent this season is Knies...Anyone else sorry i don't see anybody, if you saw someone else... Tell me
You're right Marner is extremely consistent only in a negative way.

Leafs have 4 regulation losses this year and Marner is 0-0-0 points and -8 +/- combined. Can't get more consistent than that.

Think of it this way IF Marner sat in the pressbox during those same games his offensive contribution would be identical "NOTHING" to actually playing except he wouldn't be a -8 =/- but rather a Zero +/-.

Is this because Nylander scores more than marner while with Matthews?
Nylander does score more than Marner !!!

On pace results after 10 games. Nylander is on pace for 49 goals while Marner is on pace for 8 after 10 games.

If you could sign only ONE which one would it be, and which one would have more value to the team?

Had time to read this properly.

Why is MM not stapled to JT. The combo is far superior overall when you consider GA/60. To not put that combo makes the coaching inept.

So Keefe and Berube are either stupid.

Or

Mitch demands to be on with AM

Pretty obvious and if its a demand he is about himself and not team.
Or Matthews demands it.....

Mtl game he was probably leafs best player...

NYR the fact Kampf/Rielly completly missed their coverage + empty net goal, i don't think that make a bad game for this reason. Leafs had been the best team but unable to capitalize on their scoring chance...

STL The whole team was trash

CBS was more trash goaltending who was unable to stop a beach ball and struggling on every shot than anything else and player forfeit seing it...Its the only game who had been goaltending issue all year

Number of bad game Marner had is what maybe 2 game, name me someone else who had fewer bad game just for fun?

Consistent doesn't mean production but how they played, % of work, intensity, creating thing and whatever. When you just watch stats and anything else. You can finish a game with 2 pts but been completly trash most of the game and play a great game but finishing at 0 pts.
