Obtuse huh lol says the guy who claims marners made the team and the he wasn’t named in the small group that made the team …… loool your awesome

Do you realistically think Marner is not making team Canada? Let’s be for real. There’s about a 5% chance of that happening. Every projection ive seen has him as a top 6 RW on team Canada. Hes making the team. I don’t even know why we’re are being coy about it. He’s one of Canada’s best RW. And Zach Hyman has pretty much come down to earth as well.

Point
Marner
Reinhart
Stone
Barzal

Probably the right side for Canada. You could play Reinhart or Point at center too. But the right side is the easiest part for Team Canada. Who they are gonna play on left wing is the big question mark. Outside of Verhaghe I can’t really think of any locks.

which lineup do you think bring more balance and harder for opponents to play against in playoffs.

Knies-AM-MM
Max-JT-Willie
McMann-Domi-Calle

Or

Knies-AM-Domi
Calle-JT-MM
McMann-Holmberg-Willie
The second option for me, not close. Playoffs, regular season, morning, night time, games in Europe, any time at all.

I agree that he should make the team like I thought lily would definitely be in the top 6 fighting for top 4 minutes, funny thing about assumptions though right, not suggesting the 2 are the same of course

I don't see what else it could possibly be. International hockey was so awesome in the 70's/80's but boy is it ever boring now. Even the Olympics doesn't compare to what it was like back in the day but this 4 nations thing ... I just can't imagine players care much about this, and it wouldn't surprise me if being picked to play was a disappointment for most of them.
I doubt any of them will be disappointed. Playing for Canada is in their DNA going back to U-18 and U-20 teams.

What is the purpose for this 4 nation tournament? Isn’t there already enough international tournaments out there. could it be that it’s just a cash cow for the league and the NHLPA?

It’s to get fans excited about international hockey again and also because of the short notice in putting the tournament together they likely could not get arena space in the middle of February to expand the tournament. Most 2025 dates have been booked probably over two years ago. Also it can only be NHL players so there’s only so many people from each country in the NHL.

The 2027 tournament is going to be an expanded format. 2025 is basically serving as the test run, figuring out logistics ect for the 2027 World Cup

At the men’s level only the world championships is available and it’s not best in best. This absolutely matters to any player born in the 90’s who have had little to no opportunity to play best on best at the men’s level.

Or they can just send players to the Olympics again.

Have you guys been paying attention lmao? The players are going back to the Olympics.

2025 - Four Nations NHL event
2026 - Olympics IIHF with NHL participation
2029 - Full World Cup NHL event
2030 - Olympics IIHF with NHL participation

The 2025 and 2029 tournament is to get revenue for NHL (which we should all want since we continuously cry about the salary cap). But also build up international play as well. Which is good. International tournaments are amazing.
