These numbers have been posted many times. You're posting about Marner all the time so I'm sure you've seen this before but if you haven't, here you go. And if you think this means that "everyone drops off drastically" then ...

Matthews: 18% less points per game in the playoffs vs regular season
Marner: 24% less points per game in the playoffs
Nylander: 2% less points per game in the playoffs
Tavares: 27% less points per game in the playoffs.

He's on a roll, they don't call him Mr. November for nothing. :)

For sure like i said, Marner was playing much more in playoff against any top matchup because he's the guy coach trust the most and Nylander less because hes unable to create anything.

Strenght of matchup also drastically change in playoff too, so unstead if you're telling me for you its exactly the same playing and pastrnak or kucherov than playing against Maroon...

Like you said? What you said was that everyone's performance drops off dramatically. Do you understand now that this is 100% incorrect?

And excuse me while I LOL at this ridiculous notion that Nylander is "unable to create anything". Did you even watch the playoffs?

Marner is playing his best hockey these past games WITHOUT Matthews being available.

It is surprising however Leafs record without Matthews is very strong overall and other players step up to take bigger roles.

This is like Groundhog Day every season. Nobody questions Marners skill, ability to put up points etc.

When the game speeds up and tightens up, there just isn’t room and time to do some of the things he likes to do.

It’s early in Berube’s tenure, but it looks like Mitch is more willing to physically engage, at least more than usual.

Hopefully it pays off when it matters. Why it took 9 years to figure out is beyond me.
We’ll see what he and Matthews do in the playoffs when the opposition is focused and trying to make their lives miserable.

He's on a 103 point pace. He's also in the Selke conversation again, his 200 ft game has been amazing.

Just post this the next time some low level goon says Matthews carries Marner, beyond laughable:

"Mitch Marner has 18 goals, 54 assists, 72 points(109 point pace) and a plus-minus of +17 in 58 games without Auston Matthews in his career"

He's going to sign a well deserved large contract and it will be glorious watching the hater cult melt down for the next 4-8 years.

Probably, but if he continues to be pushed out the playoffs the team will likely never build a contender with this core.

There can’t be anyone left who doesn’t believe he’ll be re-signed.
Berube has taken him to another level.

Dude, don't bother. The haters will just keep throwing out the same 5 talking points that have been explained to them dozens of times in the last half decade while ignoring EVERYTHING else. The reality is these people don't know how to watch hockey. All they see are the flashy goals. All they care about is points and when it comes to elite playmakers then it's just goals. They have no clue about the defensive zone, match ups, coaching strategies, IQ, vision, playmaking, etc etc. They can't even understand the most basic defensive stats like GA/60. They are basically offensive zone puck watchers and nothing else.

Been a good start to the year but this doesn't seem like any different of a version of Marner than we got in previous years. He chugs along well this time of year.

It's a new Marner if compared to the Marner we saw in the playoffs, boy did that Marner ever suck.

Compared to the Marner we see every November, same old Marner.

It's hilarious to see how many people are still fooled this time of year thinking it's a new Marner. How many years has it been now?

If the time you're playing against bad matchup raise but your stats still drop a little bit, Can you consider your game still at the same level?

So if we want the best value for Marner's contract, maybe we should wait until Rantanen signs first this go around.

He's currently at 8G, 12A and 20P and it appears he's logging even more minutes than Mitch.

Believe me I'm not making anymore judgements/assessments until postseason time.

The media is even driving THE SELL. AKA running cover for another overpay that will never translate into a cup but will sell hope and merch and higher ticket prices going forward.

If and when Rogers takes MLSE public you will see more success but not before them. Share prices matter

I think Rantanen is walking tbh. Negotiations have not been pretty and I think Rantanen wants to be the guy.

Berube has taken him to another level.
While I still don't think he us worth 13 or 14, he has been playing a dominating role and is clearly a step above. Can we afford him and Knies?

At this point only a fool would sign him before seeing what he does in the playoffs.

This part is so fitting. Listen to Chris, Pelley.

And then the ferryman said
"There is trouble ahead
So you must pay me now, " ("Don't do it")
"You must pay me now, " ("Don't do it")
And still that voice came from beyond
"Whatever you do
Don't pay the ferryman
Don't even fix a price
Don't pay the ferryman
Until he gets you to the other side
"

Does he ever look better without Matthews.

Ice seems so clogged with Matthews out there, and so much space when he isn't.

Mind you they haven't played a good team since the Wild.

Probably another mirage.
5v5 hasn't had much production.

Only 3 first assists all year.
2 of the 3 first assists weren't even intended passes (one a clearing attempt and the other a dump in).

3*double digits - $37mm
Knies - $7mm
Tavares - $6mm
$50mm

Oilers, have heard Bouchard wants double digits.
Can't see them keeping below Nurse's deal.

Oilers
2*double digits $26mm
2*9mm $18mm (Bouchard, Nurse)
1*6mm (Ekholm)
$50mm

He looks like he's playing with more creative freedom not looking for Auston all day in all situations. Just way more connected on the PP, skating better through transition and taking more shots.

Yeah, powerplay has come alive without deferring to Matthews.

Nylander and marner create so much more space, when the puck isn't going into a sinkhole.

In his absence, the PP looks a lot better without everyone looking for Matthews while Matthews wasn't his assertive shooting self. The way he would get a puck, look off a B shot and then delay and end up with a C shot ended up really wasting time on the clock. Things are just connecting better and less predictable right now.

He’s obviously more valued than Nylander but I think 13/14 is a stretch. Ideally he comes in around 12.

They’ll find a way to afford him and Knies. I think the wild card now is Tavares. He looks so much better under Berube as well.

I don't see how they have different value, just look at the one man effort Nylander demonstrated on his lone ranger rush and career peak point totals. You have a playmaker and a goal scorer.
