Marner because he's been this good for longer than 1 season. Ep40 needs to show this again next season.
You know that "currently" means now right?

Marner before this year
Petterson this year
Petterson going forward assuming this year is not the outlier
Just as good or better player and a center

This year ill take Pettersson but Marner is ahead in career for sure, next year and the one after will probably determine for sure. Voted Marner.

Pettersson. I’ve watched enough of him to know he’s taken another step this year. He makes everyone he plays with better. Mikheyev, Kuzmenko and Beauvilier all have had great seasons on his wings.

Mikheyev is having a worse year this year than he did last season and he barely played in the top 6, so that's a weird name to try and fluff your boy.

That’s Marner’s best strength too, though. Literally everybody he plays with sees their best production, like career highs, while he produces consistently regardless of who he’s propping up.

Ovechkin lite + Draisaitl lite + Bergeron lite = Pettersson

(Yes Karlsson is still a better hockey player)

For the record: Marner is not far off Pettersson

Btw: Would love to see them together (+Karlsson)

To be fair, Mikheyev played injured the last 15 games before he shutdown the season, playing through the pain.
Thats a pretty reasonable thing to add, for sure. Mikheyev also had to deal with an incredibly serious injury in Toronto and come back from having his wrist sliced, seems like a half decent comparison.
Just admit you were wrong and take the L.
What was I wrong about? You could have used the other guys to prop up Pettersson's season (which he doesnt need, hes been fantastic) but you tried using a former leaf who is having a worse season.

Oh wow, almost like he was injured in Toronto too!

Last season : 53 gp 21g 11a 32 p
This season: 46 gp 13g 15a 28 p

Such a massive boost from Pete over the likes of Kerfoot and Kampf:laugh:
Mikheyev tore his ACL in the preseason yet somehow still played in 46 games this season. I think the fact that he put up any numbers at all is impressive.

Totally agree, I love soup. Just dont pretened his numbers are a product of an elite centerman when he has put up better numbers with david kampf, you know?

Agreed. He’s been great for Vancouver and was on pace for a career year. Everyone EP plays with this year has had his play elevated.
To be fair, Marner does the same. Both make their linemates better.

I wouldn’t say his numbers were better when talking about linemates, as he had 1 more 5v5 goal and 6 more 5v5 points in fewer games this year (2.42 P/60 compared to 1.76). He didn’t have the short handed points he did last year but that’s not relevant to Pettersson/Kampf as linemates. He also played nearly half his minutes with Pettersson (304:51 out of 619:37) and his P/60 with Pettersson was 2.76. I agree it isn’t a great argument for Pettersson though, as any star player should boost tweener forwards when they’re together.

It's an uninformed opinion, so therefore it's meaningless. You admitted to not watching the players.
I mean I’ve definitely watched a bit of him. I’m still not convinced he’s at that elite tier.

Last season I said Matthews was getting overated and I would get thrashed on here for not being convinced he was a top 5 player in the league. I’ve seen more of Matthews though but I still prefer him to Petterson.
