Huh? No.Just switch a man to a Human and you are fine. Lol.

That’s because Dubas needs to be the alpha betaWell you're in luck because dubas will somehow find someone even softer as a replacement
A year ago I would have agreed with this but last season was different to me. The previous 4 years we didn't show up for game 7 but against TB, we fought hard until the bitter end. Still a loss of course and it doesn't make for the previous disasters, but it's something anyway.True statement with 1 caveat .. some players will do enough but never quite enough to win irrespective of opponent .. it is a cultural personnel issue deeply rooted in da core players .. no one likes to bring up da 1,000 pound gorilla issue but 6 years of very very tight close series all LOST .. to me it all will come down to a tender who throws these core guys on his back and says boys ride my back I will take you there .. it will never be a coach
Wonder why Tortz never sticks around for more than two years. Probably because acting like a raving lunatic has a very limited shelf life...Pathetic bunch. We needed Torts.
Guessing you're a young fan or you've somehow managed to erase the memory of the post-lockout era.Why not? We tried 6 years with the same core and can't pass the first round in the playoffs.

Um, John Tortorella, not Barry Trotz. The poster said "Torts" = Tortorella.By never sticks around for more then two years you mean
16 years in Nashville, 4 in Washington ( including a cup) and 4 in new York?

Torts is this generation's Mike Keenan, in that his style wears out fast. And rocketman, it's worth mentioning that the 8 years in Tampa was split across the lockout, so it's closer to two 3-year sessions or so. Torts' shelf life is around 4 years. How many coaches have the Leafs burned through the last 20 years? At least Torts would have snapped our snowflakes back to reality in those two years.
No doubt best team has played in any playoff series so far .. we were a bad refs call away from winning game 6 which still pisses me off (where was da control room on a high stick call where Tampa D should have got box himself instead for a complete BS embellishment)A year ago I would have agreed with this but last season was different to me. It was. It's also ridiculous that we had to wait so many years for them to show up in a game 7, and I still can't explain that, or justify it. This team is an enigma and I would think this is their last shot. Fail again in the playoffs and I will be shocked if there aren't major changes. Then again, I would have thought big changes were coming after losing to MTL so take that FWIW.No doubt best team has played in any playoff series so far .. we were a bad refs call away from winning game 6 which still pisses me off (where was da control room on a high stick call where Tampa D should have got box himself instead for a complete BS embellishment)
I haven't watched this team in years but in this case I'm confident in what I'm saying: there is no world in any universe where losing Auston Matthews for nothing is acceptable. That absolutely cannot be an acceptable outcome. No one in the front office could justify keeping their jobs if that were to occur. This season is going to be an absolute circus if the coach is going to call out the top players after every loss.
It wouldn't shock me at all if Matthews walks as a UFA after next season.
Good to see you brother, what a name from the past. This market can be so exhausting. Keefe said nothing wrong. Like, he LITERALLY said nothing wrong. It was completely innocuous and an innocent reflection on the game. I actually can't even fathom the players caring, or even catching wind of it until someone brought it up with them. Why he felt the need to clarify anything is super weird and self-conscious, like he did something foolish like listening to talk radio on the way home. Anyways, he should have left it alone and rolled his eyes to anyone who asked about it.

We're not doing that nonsense any longer.Just switch a man to a Human and you are fine. Lol.

That's the problem. A lot of nights they play like did the other night. Nobody is denying they have talent. It's the fact they have issues with outworking other teams and many nights fail to show up til late in the game.Play the way they did against TB and they'll beat almost all teams most of the time.
Agreed I think Keefe is really worried about being Babcock’d he just needs to focus on winning.
A fact that is missed by many. While it might be game 4 in terms of season, it’s game 328 for me in terms of the same bad habits, the same calling out, the same indifference, not starting on time, hanging new goalies out to dry, compete, work ethic, statement, etc.If you believe what goes on here is a small sample size that's certainly your prerogative.
Seems like ground hog day to the rest of us, we've seen it all before.
Goaltending maybe? I would also say that I'm not sure any excuses are needed for last season, it was the first time in ages that you could say that but yeah, I thought they played well and left it all out there. To me this team always find a reason/excuse for not advancing till last playoffs. Whether it was Kadri getting suspended or injuries to Muz or JT….Last season was the first year where they just couldn’t find any excuses.
I thought our stars all played very well against TB. M&M,Tavares, Nylander, Rielly, all of them.I say this after watching the Leafs' stars in the past 6 playoffs: They would like to win but they don't need to win to fulfill something inside. I will say that a switch has been flipped in Matthews 2 years ago and he has looked like he really wants to win in the past 2 playoffs. The rest of the stars just seem like they'd enjoy winning but draw the line at risking health and possibly shortening their careers to make it happen.
At the end of the season they usually end up being just fine. Some off nights but overall, one of the top teams. My only complaint (and it's a biggie) is the way they just folded in game 7 4 years in a row. That's 4 years that we'll never get back and 4 years, that's a good chunk of a career and to waste all those years is hard as f*** to swallow. They did much better last spring though so we'll see what happens this time around. That's the problem. A lot of nights they play like did the other night. Nobody is denying they have talent. Well. I would not pin goaltending as the reason they lost last playoffs nor depth scoring.Goaltending maybe?
