Keefe: I was 'managing the media' by walking back comments on Leafs' stars keefe continyes his explanations.
If he thinks continually talking about it is "managing the media", then he's doomed.

Thats unbeleavable yeah... unheard of.If he thinks continually talking about it is "managing the media", then he's doomed.
Well, if all we needed was to do a bit more (and that is obviously true), I wouldn't blame the top guys, they all played great. Campbell was as good at times sure, but Vasi was off for a while so that's not really saying much. Campbell's definitely one guy you could point to that didn't play that great. If he played better, then maybe we put them away before Vasi found his form.Well. I would not pin goaltending as the reason they lost last playoffs nor depth scoring.
Campbell was as good if not at times better than Vas.
TB depths scored more but their depth were better than ours.
Our top guys played well but they needed to do more, a goal or two in Game 6 and 7 would probably be the difference between winning and losing the round.
LOL, indeed. Put this on the list of self evident truths, you'd think he'd know this by now.If he thinks continually talking about it is "managing the media", then he's doomed.
Agreed. This should be the death blow for everyoneKeefe "I used the wrong words" lol
Clearly the stars run the show here. Time to fire this entire blue diseased management group.
Did Vas played like crap or did the Leafs made him crap. Honestly, I really don’t recall Vas made any saves that made me go, wow, we got robbed.Well, if all we needed was to do a bit more (and that is obviously true), I wouldn't blame the top guys, they all played great. TSN Intermission talked about the organization being worried about pressures on Marner and how to insulate him from the noise and how this is one of the main reasons why Keefe would walk back his statements. Don't like that fragility angle.
He went from underwhelming to downright bad and was frankly a liability out there. I'm shocked to see him respond to pressure by shrinking awayMarner with an incredible grown man game tonight, this is why you don't criticize the stud![]()
I don't recall the specifics that well, just my general impression was that Vasi started slow but found his form as the series went on. Jack had a SV% of .897 for the series, had he played a bit better that might have made the difference. Not blaming him for the loss, you could say the same for the entire team I guess, just pointing to him as one place where we could have been better. But you're right, hard to blame the goalie when you can't score more than one goal and TB knowing how to win while we're playing not to lose, yeah there could be something to that as well.Did Vas played like crap or did the Leafs made him crap. I am not saying Campbell was amazing but he let in 2 goals in Game 7. With the offensive power we had, the guys needed to score more than a goal.
I think one of the main diff between TB and us were TB players were blocking shots left, right, front and center. Also TB players just know how to win while our Leafs were playing not to lose.
A year ago I would have agreed with all of this. However ...It’s obvious to me that heads need to roll in this organization sooner than later but is now really the time? Plus who is even available for a replacement? I think it’s a core issue more than a coaching issue. Management refuses to make any moves to shake it up but we’ve seen this core fail over and over again like clockwork, folding when it gets tough. This is a very poorly built team with no grit, no leadership and no heart. They’re a glass cannon
I would ride the season and playoffs out, keeping an eye out for trades and other possible coaches if I were Dubas. I would also make it clear to Sheldon though that he needs to control the room and stop worshipping his stars.
Mitch, if you’re a grown man then act like one and toughen up. It’s pretty clear to most now that he is soft and fragile. He gets paid 11 million and disappears when it matters.
Keefe is so weird. The players didn't care he said it, yet he makes it so awkward after forcing them to have to say stuff like "we can handle it". Same thing happened last year when he had to spin back on calling them soft. None of them cared, even Rielly was like he thought they were too soft in that game too, without even knowing Keefe said anything in the first place.
*unless i am reading this situation wrong and keefe was forced to spin back
Don't worry, another 5 or 6 years and he will be able to finally start trying to grow a playoff beardA grown man who looks like he's 17 and has a personality and body to match
Im sure he feels the heat.Does Keefe know that his last game?
if I was on the MLSE board I'd be livid paying 6.5 million to someone for not doing anything. I'd want dubas to explain himself and provide accounting for every dollar spent showing how it improved the club
I wish I had a Photoshop program to throw one of those flower pot hats on Mitch. For some reason this blast from the past came to mind.
