Marner haters right now

Or the countless times Marner was set up by a teammate in a great scoring area only for him to try to deke it in the net or try to pass the puck?

11 million should be given to a player who is a franchise player with an entire tool box of elite options... not a small playmaker, with zero tenacity, with average wheels, no shot and needs to shotgun a top 5 goalscorer/point producer on his line to compliment him.

I agree, Marner is a great player but he's overpaid for sure.

Present and future is all that matters, past is irrelevant

LOL WUT? If we're talking about the Leafs PP (or anything else having to do with the team for that matter), what else is there to discuss and base our opinions on other than looking at what's happened in the past. Or wait, can you see into the future?

Well A powerplay goal would be nice.

I just don’t get how you can’t score on the powerplay at all and still be labelled an excellent pp player. He can only at best do 50% of his job on the pp. It’s like saying a player is elite 5 v 5 but they lack one of the three key elements to do so, goal scoring, playmaking and play driving. If you can’t do all 3, then you aren’t truly elite, just very good. Same goes for the pp, if you can’t score and pass, you aren’t elite, you aren’t apart of the 1% of elite players. Mcdavid kucherov and draisaitl are examples of elite/excellent powerplay players
I agree an excellent PP player should be able to get "A" PP goal a season.

Not being a great PP goal scorer and not able to score in PP are two completely different thing.

Honestly, if the PP is scoring, I don’t think it matters who the scorer is, however, if a player is having as long a PP goal drought as Marner, that’s got to be a concern of some sort.

It is a problem already though and we see it in the playoffs when goal scoring is at a premium. We keep getting shut out in pivotal games. It’s on Matthews and JT as much as Marner but when you make franchise money you need to consistently be able to do both. If you can’t, you don’t make double digits.

If Marner made 8.6/7 passing to another 4.5 million option then that’s fine, but you are payed Kucherov/Panarin goal scoring level when you are a Backstrom assist man.

Seems Marner is hated by the same small group of posters who appear to be strangely obsessed by this one player with their relentless regurgitation of the same opinion.
regurgitation? Marner is the gift that keeps giving in terms of new informstion that proves hes overpaid... 105 games and counting without a pp goal, 18 post seasons without a goal and he is now on a 65 point pace this season.

where is your information to prove that he isnt overpaid? Got nothing huh?

thank you for your post...those wondering why certain posters wont stop discussion Marners shortcomings... well here is your reason.
There's discussing shortcomings and there's calling Kyle Connor a better hockey player..
