That D is basically more reason why Toronto would do this trade.

You don't know what your talking about. Nielson and dermott are looking like great prospects down in the ahl after amazing years in d+1. Having gardiner on the third pairing alone tells you how strong the defense is, plus we have 1st round picks, we can use them on a rhd and a 1st line winger who may replace jvr if he leaves in 2 years.

Great idea, but little to no interest from either side. Marner has yet to show enough to be worth Lindholm, yet his upside is to high for the leafs to consider trading him away at this point.

Either side says no, both sides are still friends.

I think Marner's great and all, but if you get a chance to get an all-situations 1D at age 22 you shouldn't laugh, or even chuckle. You should seriously consider it.

If they laugh at getting a young top pair quality defenseman who is the best from his draft then they are idiots.

Would Buffalo be idiots to not trade Eichel for Lindholm? How about McDavid for Lindholm? Marner was drafted right after those guys.

Leafs stick with Marner, no question.

I'd give Ehlers or Connor from the Jets for Lindholm, easily. I'm surprised any Leaf fans are saying no to this. I don't think Marner is on another tier than those guys.

Well there lies your problem. I believe he is.

With that said, it's probably a very fair trade on paper. I just don't see the Leafs moving Marner for anything right now and they have zero urgency to make a move like this.

I'm not sure if you're actually being serious or not..

So after 2 AHL games this year, Nielson is penciled in to be a top pairing D in 2 years and Dermott will apparently be a top 4 d-man in 2 years.

With the way Mitch has played during the pre-season and start of this season, he has exceeded expectations. You're asking for the wrong young forward I think. Mitch has looked so good that he is not available, but he's looked so good Willie Nylander might be in move like this.

One of these things is not like the other, don't get me wrong Marner is going to be good but he is still a tier below Eichel and even farther below McDavid.

Its a solid proposal. I think anyone serious/not trolling would consider the offer.

Lol pre-season and 2 regular season games make a player not available.

Marner has been our best player. He has been unbelievable, and still gets underrated on here. Go figure.

Hell no to OP. Marner looks like he can be every bit as good as Kane/Gaudreau within a couple years.

He's got quite the track record of play and was a top-5 prospect coming into the season. He already wasn't available. His strong play actually playing with the Leafs has given a glimpse at his ability next to Leafs players and other NHL players. He's probably been the Leafs most dangerous offensive player and best defensively. He's amazing. He's just doing what's expected.

Leafs stick with Marner, no question.

Bobby Ryan was drafted immediately after Sidney Crosby. That didn't make him untouchable.

Cam Barker was drafted immediately after Ovechkin and Malkin. That one kind of says it all, doesn't it?

Being drafted after immense talents doesn't automatically make you one. Now, I'm not suggesting Marner is either of those players, but to suggest his value is somehow determined by the success of Eichel or McDavid is pretty silly.

As a GM I'd probably do it, but as a fan no way. Marner wants to be a Leaf, and I want him to be one as well. I really just want Toronto to develop their own talent, guys we can say are ours. I want Matthews, Marner, Nylander and Rielly to be the core I remember decades from now, and it seems nonsensical, but it'll be all the more special if they're players that we drafted and developed ourselves.
